Why I'm sticking it out with YouTubeTV

I'm giving YouTubeTV a full billing cycle to work this out. If I have to miss every Aggie game in November, so be it.

I'm not cancelling YouTubeTV. I'm not paying more money for some other streaming service that is still in Mickey Mouse's good graces.

Why? It's incredibly simple:
  • YouTubeTV has no track record of being a strategic threat to our program.
  • ESPN does.
  • Disney does.
p.s. I refuse to download the gggdddd ESPN app when they boot our broadcasts to, e.g. make way for a slobberfest for one of their high-investment properties ("elites" heh heh).

p.p.s. f ESPN I hope YouTubeTV puts the screws to them.

I also will hold out for YouTube.

If we need it, I recommend listening on the Internet on the WTAW website. Going to a bar for four hours to watch can get expensive.

Anyone remember when YouTubeTV led the charge in the covid season to keep us out of the playoffs? I distinctly remember their frontman Kirk Herbstreit saying, late in November, "Oh yeah, Oklahoma is a way better team than Texas A&M. Texas A&M has no business in the playoffs."

Oh wait. Maybe that wasn't YouTubeTV, but rather the multinational enterprise whose monopolistic whimsy they're trying to curtaill.

with the evolving landscape of how we consume our "TV" ... IMO, YouTubeTV doesn't have the leverage to put the screws to them. More and more app based now. Disney owns something in demand ... they have the cards here. I hate Disney as much as the next person, but they have purchased and cornered this market ... until something new/innovative comes along (and hopefully isn't bought out by Disney).

Call YouTube TV and say, "I'm not worried about it! I'm not worried about any of this. There's worst sh*t on the local news."

sling day pass or antenna. cheap and easy.

I left YTTV because the prices are insane and go up constantly. it's fine if you want a traditional cable experience without a contract.

I only bought it for football season. sling day pass is a sweet spot that i only have to pay for the day i want to watch and sometimes i am unable to watch games every Saturday anyone.

Not everyone is out to get us. Maybe take the extra time you have from not watching football and go touch grass.

Right now, the Missouri game and tu game are both on ABC

Which means regular over the air antenna will do just fine to get those two games

Then you got Sanford, which buying tickets to go so I don't need to see that on TV and I may also see live South Carolina

That right there solves the problem

Or if you can't make the game, I'm sure a restaurant or bar somewhere be a quick fix for just two games without having to purchase ESPN subscription

ESPN is 110% out to control CFB. That includes the Heisman, the Playoffs, and the NC.

They don't include A&M as a benefit to their narrative.
They can go f themselves for a number of reason.

So YouTube is going to break Disney? Keep fighting the fight, and I'll keep watching football on the ESPN family of channels.

This. Or what i do on Sunday when I want watch the Steelers play. I just boot leg the game off a free sports website. Also good for watching cricket or rugby. Why post a rant about sticking it to espn who could careless about you. Im not suffering from watching espn. OP is the poster child of old man yelling at clouds.

While Disney has some leverage, I don't think they can just name their price. YTTV has ~10M subscribers, or roughly 8% of households in the US. Only a fraction of those subscribers will ditch YTTV and move to ESPN Unlimited or one of the other alternatives to get ESPN content. The balance will sit tight and not notice or not care. Before the riff, Disney was getting money from each and every one of those subscribers whether they watched or not. Now, they are only getting the incremental revenue from those that pay for access. Disney also gets advertising revenue based on viewership. Less casual viewers due to lack of availability means less advertising revenue. The sides are trying to figure out how to maximize revenue and minimize expenses. They need each other. It will get worked out.

Thanks for the info. Most Sundays are sitting in a patrol car. So boot legging is the best option.

But shouldn't one person be afraid to use a fire stick I mean, can't you get in trouble for that?

I know it sounds wussy like to say that, but can they just track your IP address and find out who you are

Wouldn't that be a major problem for such a small gain?

Connect to VPN before launching Kodi, and no one knows where you're coming from.

they might try to shut down the stream, but they don't care about who is streaming the game.

YouTube will lose this fight and you'll end up paying more in a month anyways.

YouTube has already played their trump card: dropping ESPN content. They have no other negotiating power. Their subscribers are more loyal to ESPN's content, not YouTube.

You talk a big game but you are not going to miss the Ags playing in the playoffs to highlight a principle most people aren't going to care about anyways.

You're not wrong. But only one of the two has a clear track record of actively, consistently working against our program's interests for decades. Therefore, that's the one I'm investing against here.

And for sure if YTTV can't get this put to bed before the playoffs, I'm doing Fubo next season. I've heard a lot of good stuff about them on here in the last week or so.
