We're in the toughest conference in the country. We routinely play the best teams. This season's (relatively) easy conference schedule has been the exception. The SEC West was BRUTAL.

I don't know what the players mindset will be in this game or how the coaches spin being "locked in" when we are about to play an absolutely awful, terrible, really, really, really, really bad football team. They are not even talking about the football game... They are talking about segments and situations. You wlll see drives where we do not throw a single pass. Then a drive where we do not run the ball. They will have the game segmented just like a practice. They want to work on specific things.

Get better in each segment will be the message.

Would really like to see the starters out by half time.

If the line is 56, I might bet the house on it. Not sure there will be enough possessions to even get to 56. Will be a very short game.

I don't think we cover @40+. If you've listened to an Elko press conference, he's mentioned at least twice that I can remember, he's not the type of program that runs up the score.

I think it will be hard not to score 50 or 60 points...even though Elko doesn't run it up...but this is one of the worst matchups ever... they average like 175 yards a game and give up over 400, they are undersized and slow. I'm a sick dude, so I find highlights and games to watch of opponents every week...I watched them against Austin Peay and Baylor...just really bad.

To top things off...this is their season finale and the last game all of their coaches will coach at Samford. Head Coach already fired and the rest will be shown the door Sunday.

So the coaches are looking for jobs, the players that are any good at all are trying to figure out where to portal and the best thing about this weekend for all of them is they get to say they played at Kyle Field once (which is more than most of us, so pretty cool).

Meanwhile, A&M will be working on situations and trying to get work for seniors and deep depth chart kids (who will play hard, because this is likely the last snaps they get until the spring or ever if they are depth seniors).

I think coaches mean it when they say the 'respect every opponent' and they have to have a '1-0 mentality'...but realistically we could turn the ball over 8 times and win by 4 or 5 scores.

Oddly enough, Samford (1841) is the second oldest school we play this year, behind South Carolina, but above Notre Dame.

Samford is a small FBS school located at Homewood, a suburb of B'ham. I think of iSamford as as the Baylor of Alabama. (I lived 11 years at B'ham.)
