So in other words, they're not even as good as the best team we've beaten.

Manning is #46 in QBR. Tu rushing offense is #110 and their passing defense is #105.
Calm down.
We matched up even better vs USCe and we barely survived. Those comparisons don't necessarily mean much. Especially in a rivalry game like this.

They aren't any better than any of the 11 we've already beaten, probably just above the average of the bottom 6.
They're better that Arky, and MSU, and Samford, and UTSA

4th quarter, nail biter. It's stupid to look past a team with that many 4/5 star players.

Everyone seems so sure we are winning this one and I am not so sure.
If we played their schedule we would probably be 9-2 with losses to OSU and UGA. They are 8-3. I think we would have beaten OU and Florida. Florida was a really bad loss.
They have a couple of good wins with OU and Vandy. We have one REALLY good win with ND on the road. The rest of our schedule just hasn't been very good... that being said we did win them all.
Manning is WAY better than he was early in the season.
UT had a couple games in which they were terrible but still won in MSU and UK. I'm not really sure why they were so bad those games. Before you think this means much, we also had a couple of games we sucked in Auburn and Arkansas.
Overall I think these teams are a lot more evenly matched than what everyone is saying here and they are at home.
Spreadsheet ag was right on with this one, it will be tight.

When tu loses tonight, they will fall out of the top 25 .

Another sip coming to TexAgs looking for validation. Literally, sips are the most insecure fan base in all of college football.

Manning looks better because they're letting him throw quick screens to guys like Wingo and letting them work in space. Also, he looked great agains Arkansas cause they played My Pillow soft zone and the texas WRs just sat in the gaps.
If you watch Manning he still does that fake ass Mahomes sidearm when he's on the run or under pressure.
As for the defense... Craver and KC going for 100+ yds each.

I don't know how good they are but they're a lot better than they were to start the season and better than at mid season. We're better but we'll need to play well to get this win. Everyone seems to agree that QB pressures and containment is a priority.

This. LSU had us reeling in that second quarter, IN DEATH VALLEY, they were on the cusp of resurrecting their season with still a lot to play for, and we had the stadium empty by the end of the third quarter.
I'm not saying tu doesnt have a chance, but it would be a major upset imho. If we can get up on them early, they fold like a cheap lawn chair and we take over our third stadium this year.

Texas has put up 40+ points 3 times this:
1.) SHSU
2.) MSU
3.) Arkansas
UGA held them to 10 points.
I'm not saying the Ags will do the exact same as UGA, but I would be gobsmacked if texas put up 40+ points against the Ags. Especially since the Ags have only allowed 42+ points once this season, against Arkansas.

Been lurking on this thread to see where it would go.
My 2 cents: Long-time students of college football know, it's really too difficult to pick this one apart by looking at other teams we played, looking at similar opponents, etc. You really have to look to trends at this point. And while I was happy to see Texas faltering early in the season, and laughed when they lost to a pitiful Florida team, and was hoping they lose one of their OT games (also to bad teams), I do think they will be tough today.
If you are ignoring they have been improving, you're just wishful thinking yourself here. The game today will be a lot more competitive than those caught in the "wishful thinking" trap want to believe. Two reasons: A) the trend for them this year is showing improvement (albeit debatable how much) and B) rivalry game (as we all know, throw out the relative game comparisons when you insert human elements).
I do think we win. I'm down for a 31-20 score prediction. I think we will be worrying a lot part of this game, sips even leading a time or two. But I would take our skilled players over theirs all day long, and this team does have the "X factor" (we've seen it all season, a la ND, Mizzou and LSU, opposing stadiums simply don't seem to phase this team).
