So in other words, they're not even as good as the best team we've beaten.

I don't know how good they are but they're a lot better than they were to start the season and better than at mid season. We're better but we'll need to play well to get this win. Everyone seems to agree that QB pressures and containment is a priority.

Manning is #46 in QBR. Tu rushing offense is #110 and their passing defense is #105.

Calm down.

We matched up even better vs USCe and we barely survived. Those comparisons don't necessarily mean much. Especially in a rivalry game like this.

4 turnovers and 4 dropped balls and we still won. You think tu will have more luck against us?

4th quarter, nail biter. It's stupid to look past a team with that many 4/5 star players.

They're better that Arky, and MSU, and Samford, and UTSA

What about Florida?

They have good playmakers like Wingo who can get open on the perimeter which is where they throw a lot of short passes for big gains. I would also follow Georgia's lead and not punt to their PR guy.

I think it'll be a great game. We'll see.

Texas "won" at msst because the refs gifted them a first down on 3rd and 26 with a phantom roughing call; and a punt return for a td that had at least 3 blocks in the back.
You are the world, we are the USA, don't mess with us and we won't blow your $hit away.

Everyone seems so sure we are winning this one and I am not so sure.

If we played their schedule we would probably be 9-2 with losses to OSU and UGA. They are 8-3. I think we would have beaten OU and Florida. Florida was a really bad loss.

They have a couple of good wins with OU and Vandy. We have one REALLY good win with ND on the road. The rest of our schedule just hasn't been very good... that being said we did win them all.

Manning is WAY better than he was early in the season.

UT had a couple games in which they were terrible but still won in MSU and UK. I'm not really sure why they were so bad those games. Before you think this means much, we also had a couple of games we sucked in Auburn and Arkansas.

Overall I think these teams are a lot more evenly matched than what everyone is saying here and they are at home.

Spreadsheet ag was right on with this one, it will be tight.

This. LSU had us reeling in that second quarter, IN DEATH VALLEY, they were on the cusp of resurrecting their season with still a lot to play for, and we had the stadium empty by the end of the third quarter.

I'm not saying tu doesnt have a chance, but it would be a major upset imho. If we can get up on them early, they fold like a cheap lawn chair and we take over our third stadium this year.

When tu loses tonight, they will fall out of the top 25 and the narrative that the Aggies haven't played any good team will continue.

You could say that about any football team's fan base, including fans on this forum. We've made it over a quarter of a Century without an outright conference championship.

Comments like the bold text below get peppered on to this forum like birdshot, about the fan base of every next opponent.

I said "most" insecure. How many fans of other teams come to Texags and try so hard seeking validation and to prove their delusional superiority over "****".

Are there insecure fans of all college football programs? Of course.

Texas has put up 40+ points 3 times this:

1.) SHSU
2.) MSU
3.) Arkansas

UGA held them to 10 points.

I'm not saying the Ags will do the exact same as UGA, but I would be gobsmacked if texas put up 40+ points against the Ags. Especially since the Ags have only allowed 42+ points once this season, against Arkansas.

Manning looks better because they're letting him throw quick screens to guys like Wingo and letting them work in space. Also, he looked great agains Arkansas cause they played My Pillow soft zone and the texas WRs just sat in the gaps.

If you watch Manning he still does that fake ass Mahomes sidearm when he's on the run or under pressure.

As for the defense... Craver and KC going for 100+ yds each.

Manning also looks good because he is very difficult to tackle. He gets out of the pocket, works his way towards the sideline and finds wide open receivers.

He's not good in the pocket.

We rush him and make it a priority to wrap him up. That's the key. If not, it could look like last year against Lenorris Sellers where he was shedding tackles.

Not sure how you can say that. Other than the OU win, which was largely won with special teams, they haven't beaten anyone decent, have barely scraped by bad teams, got demolished by UGA, And Arch has only looked good against zone.

LSU didn't have anything. Like the first half against SC, the score was completely reflective of our own mistakes. Hence why our team was so confident coming out of half. We knew they didn't do a single thing that should have us scared.

Sure, Texas could beat us if we play bad like in those games. But if we play even average, we should win.

A lot of revisionist history BS all around about our weak schedule. Four of the teams we beat were ranked above us when the season started. We are a big part of the reason they are now considered weak.

Been lurking on this thread to see where it would go.

My 2 cents: Long-time students of college football know, it's really too difficult to pick this one apart by looking at other teams we played, looking at similar opponents, etc. You really have to look to trends at this point. And while I was happy to see Texas faltering early in the season, and laughed when they lost to a pitiful Florida team, and was hoping they lose one of their OT games (also to bad teams), I do think they will be tough today.

If you are ignoring they have been improving, you're just wishful thinking yourself here. The game today will be a lot more competitive than those caught in the "wishful thinking" trap want to believe. Two reasons: A) the trend for them this year is showing improvement (albeit debatable how much) and B) rivalry game (as we all know, throw out the relative game comparisons when you insert human elements).

I do think we win. I'm down for a 31-20 score prediction. I think we will be worrying a lot part of this game, sips even leading a time or two. But I would take our skilled players over theirs all day long, and this team does have the "X factor" (we've seen it all season, a la ND, Mizzou and LSU, opposing stadiums simply don't seem to phase this team).

Can you please show me how much improvement was evident the last time they played a good team?

Can you also show me their defensive improvement against Arkansas?

Go back to lurking, You take is one of recency bias and not reflective of opponent.

The spread is 2.5 points because Texas is a good team and much tougher at home. Since the beginning of 2023, Texas is 17-1 in home games, including 9-1 in conference home games, and the only exception was a 30-15 loss to Georgia on 10/19/2024. However, Mike Elko is 6-2 (5-2 SEC) in road games, and we won our last two road games over 7-4 (3-4 SEC) LSU and 7-4 (3-4 SEC) Missouri by a combined score of 87-42.

Texas did not score more than 23 points in any of their first 4 games against Power 4 opponents, but they have scored 34+ points in regulation in 3 of their last 4 games: 38 (31 offensive and 7 from a punt return) against Mississippi State, 34 against Vanderbilt, and 52 (45 offensive and 7 from a fumble return) against Arkansas. In contrast, Texas' defense did not allow more than 29 points in their first 7 games, but they have allowed 31+ points in regulation in each of their last 4 games: 38 to Mississippi State, 31 to Vanderbilt, 35 to Georgia, and 37 to Arkansas.

We scored 31+ points in 7 of our 8 games against Power 4 teams, including 6 of 7 SEC games, and the only exception was a 16-10 home win over Auburn. Our offense has been even better in road games and scored 38+ points in all 4 road games against Notre Dame, Arkansas, LSU, and Missouri. I think turnover margin will be the biggest deciding factor of this game. I am predicting a close 38-31 road win to finish the regular season 12-0 (8-0 SEC), but I won't be surprised if we win by double digits.
