A lot is in a name.

It's a shame that the small, narrow-minded school in Austin has been gifted the exclusive right to claim the name of one of the great symbols of the State. It would have been more appropriate for them to be named the "Silver Spoons" or just "The Anointed."

Meanwhile we hold strong to our traditional identity with the name "Aggies," a name so generic that at one point in time the majority of states had a school known by that same name. Everything we have we've had to work hard for and fight every possible headwind.

This is a universal struggle that has been around since the beginning of civilization. What makes it special? WE'RE WINNING THIS GO-ROUND!!!!

So today, when people say "Longhorns vs. Aggies," they probably lack any appreciation of the deeper meaning their words communicate.

The sip fans I can't stand are the mouthy ones that never went to school there. The basic fanbase has one advantage. If they don't like the way the season is going, they can go to Wal-Mart and by another teams t-shirt.

This. Most of us have friends or colleagues that went to tu that are decent. They'll talk a little football smack around this time but most of the time they are fine. Its the middle-aged tshirt fan who made a series of bad life decisions who now works behind the paint counter at Home Depot or is some low rent appliance salesman who just talks endless ***** Like its all they have. **** those people.

I lived in Austin during the Aggie's move to the SEC. They crap talk about running away, going to get beaten down, low academic standards, etc. was enough to take my hate to a new level. Johnny shut them up pretty much for 8-10 yrs

Then came the backstabbing by Snakey to allow the sips to sneak into the SEC after all of that hypocritical crap in 2010-2012 rekindled the hate. I hope Elko and Co stomp the ever-living, over-lovin crap outta the steers this evening. It is the justice we deserve.
