A&M football has this fascination with turning "athletes" into QBs on the 4-year program. tu recruits actual QBs and has the number 1 QB in next year's class. Marcel Reed is like opening a box of Cracker Jacks.

A&M recruits QB' too. One plays at GT. One is at Houston...

And that's the problem…..there shouldn't be any talk about Heisman and Reed in the same breath, and never should have been. He's never been that good, much less great. Reed = Mond redux.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me if he left after this year. We've seen his best and it's not near good enough to win a Natty, much less a SEC title or a Rivalry game.

Barring a solid playoff run I think the coaches look at this as an open quarterback competition next year

Reed is an above average college QB with the way Klein sets him up. He is NOT comfortable holding the ball for 6-8 seconds while standing in the pocket, then trying to escape at the very last second. He's a dual threat, read option guy who needs to be rolled away from the pressure and protected while moving. The more time he has, the more he panics and forces throws.

He will be back next year and be one of the Heisman favorites.

He will get stronger and better.

THEN, he might develop into a NFL caliber QB.

Marcel Reed isn't going anywhere.

Marcel Reed is not an NFL quarterback.

Marcel Reed needs a new OC/QB coach who wants to limelight his abilities.

One thing that Mike Leach always said that was very largely true:

Accuracy - you either have it coming out of high school or you don't.

Reed has only improved very marginally on his accuracy.

I don't think that's in high demand in the NFL. Ask Tim Tebow.

I've had a feeling since game 1 this year that he is good, but still has a lot of work to do. His decision making, off balance throws, and sometimes his reads are a little suspect.

Is he going to be a high draft pick this year or is there a chance he comes back? With the amount of polish he put in between last year and this year, I think he would be absolutely dominant next year if we could lock in some good receivers.

No way he gets drafted. He's incredibly inaccurate as a passer. Not even close to nfl ready. He can be a great college qb but needs to use his feet more. These last two conference games we've tried to sit him in the pocket all game and that's what he's worst at.

The thing that concerns me is does Elko and Klein really think he's that good of a passer? That 3rd and 2 call going for the 40 yard deep throw - a throw that Reed has shown he's got about a 10% completion percentage on (if that) was just putting way too much on Reed, and makes me question our coaches ability to game plan around what we are good at.

Unless he makes a pretty substantially transformation - ala Jalen Hurts - he's not going to make it in the NFL. Someone may take a flyer on him in a late round, but I doubt it.

Marcel is not an nfl qb but can be a very good college qb.

He'll be back next year. Albeit the team will be vastly different with a much more difficult schedule.

No chance unless he transfers. Just completed an 11-1 season and was a heisman candidate up until yesterday

Don't know what his thoughts are but if he does not come back next year it will be because he entered the portal. He is not close to being an NFL quarterback right now.

He's Shadeur Sanders with less highlights. Good college QB. Not accurate. Not big or fast enough to be an NFL star.

Reed won't slide to the 7th round because he doesn't have all the drama. But he's not a great prospect

Like I said, I like Reed, but he likes Reed too. And I I would argue that JFF's season was more successful, given the competition we played and beat that year. That's all subjective, and I think he can get better, but he needs to stop running his mouth on all these podcasts if he's going to throw interceptions to quadruple coverage in the end zone.

There have been 10-15 times this season that Marcel has used his legs to "get the first down" and he comes up almost always a yard or a yard-and-a-half short.

It is what it is. It's noticeable. And we seem to always be sub 25% in converting the 3rd down that he should have gotten.

Im not sure what the issue is, if its coaching or he's just scared of contact. But it's a meme.

Colin Klein was a Heisman finalist. He wasn't even allowed to participate in the combine at QB. He got one NFL rookie camp invitation and that was it. Montreal CFL signed him and cut him the same month.

Dude has a very good offensive line (in fairness had a relatively bad night last night). 2 NFL quality receivers and some solid guys behind them.. Couple really solid TEs as well. If Reed can't consistently move the chains, that is a problem.

One big pet peeve is he seems to have very little awareness of the sticks when running. No reaching for first downs on the scramble runs when he nears the sidelines. That seems like a lack of coaching there (should be muscle memory)...

Terrible footwork. No way he can go pro at this point.

He won't be a draft pick until he can perform consistently under pressured pockets.

The question is, where is Marcel now????
