Sure, they played OSU

And

UTEP
SJSU
SHSU
Combined record of 7-28

So they got their 'Kennesaw St' game 3 times

How conveniently everyone forgets Texas poor performance against MSU and Kentucky.

They are trying to make excuses for one of their losses and claim they are the equivalent of the other two loss teams.

All the while ignoring the very ugly loss to Florida. And close wins against bad MSU and Kentucky teams.

Keep in mind there are seven sports locked:

tOSU
IU
A&M
Georgia
Tech
Oregon
Ole Miss

Two at large slots ACC and Go5

That leaves 3 slots. Three. So let's start comparing two loss teams. For example - even if we say "ok we'll excuse you willing to play good non-conference games - let's look at the quality of losses.

Keep in mind only three of these get in and Notre Dame is pretty much a guarantee due to eyeballs, so it's really just two.

OU - Texas and Ole Miss
Notre Dame - A&M and Miami
Alabama - OU and Florida State (bad loss)
Utah - BYU and Texas Tech
Vanderbilt - Alabama and Texas
Michigan - tOSU and Oklahoma
Texas - uGA and Florida (bad loss) as well as the excused tOSU

Alabama is the only other two loss team with a bad loss. And they rehabbed themselves with a lot of very quality wins. I guess Texas is arguing their head to head with OU and Vanderbilt should give them a leg up on those two.

But Alabama, Utah and Michigan all still have better resumes for those last two slots. And that's even excusing their loss to tOSU.

If they wanted lots of easy conference games, they should have stayed in the BDF.

Frankly, our loss to a mid Texas team is going to hurt us vs..the other one loss teams.

EDIT: fixe brain fart.

He's p*ssing into the wind. The ACC champ(not Miami) and another G5 champ will knock out the 11 and 12 place teams. Thats more of an issue than tu scheduling OSU for first game.

"Texas - Oklahoma and Florida (bad loss) as well as the excused tOSU"

I generally like your reasoning but believe you intended to list UGA as a Texas loss vs Oklahoma.

Yesterday other than Michigan losing was a very bad day for Texas' slim chances.

OU won, Vandy won, Bama won, Miami won, Ole Miss won Friday, Georgia won Friday, Oregon won.

Big 10: Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon
SEC: Georgia, A&M, Ole Miss, Bama, OU

The above will be the Big 10 and SEC teams. That is it. Even if Bama loses Georgia I think 10-3 Bama will get in over 10-2 Vandy and 9-3 Texas has no chance to replace a 10-3 Bama thst made SEC title game and has that win @Georgia in its resume where Texas lost by 25 points.

Seems pretty much done deal.

Other 4 spots go to G5, the answer to the Note Dame/Miami question, Big 12 winner (probably Tech), and ACC winner. There is no room for a 6th SEC team.

Further discussion of Texas in playoff is now moot. Conversation is over. Zero chance they are in now.
