Ou barely beat lsu at home. If bama wins and BYU wins
It's ND or ou not in. Are you saying ou makes it over ND? I'm fine with that but I doubt it.

Give me one good or even bad reason that Tech should be ranked ahead of Texas A&M in any way, shape or form. Any single metric that they should be a single spot ahead of us, much less FOUR and get a ****ing bye. Insanity.

I can give you several, but you won't like them.

Can you give me one?

I might like it.

A CFP committee that's been constantly keeping us down at number 3 and behind Indiana…..and after losing to tu y'all think they'll only drop us one spot to Four????????

That's insane optimism right there….won't happen……

Who do you think they will move ahead of A&M this week? Tech? Tech has only one loss but to a bad ASU team. Oregon? Oregon's only ranked win is against a mid USC. Ole Miss? Maybe I guess, but that would mean Ole Miss jumping Oregon and Tech, and they don't have a basis for that. A&M's only loss is to UT on the road, and for whatever reason the committee seems to like UT well enough. Georgia will move ahead of A&M but I don't think anyone else will.

Like I said above, I think A&M falls behind UGA to 4, and drops to 5 if Tech beats BYU. I can't envision 3rd place B1G Oregon jumping Tech and A&M, and I can't see Ole Miss jumping Oregon and Tech based on the results this week.

Good reply! Sound logic….i hope you're right!

This week's rankings don't matter anyway. Next Sunday is the thing, and next Saturday will bring chaos somewhere. Good luck, Ags.

Huh?

This week's rankings matter in a huge way. Whatever order Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Miami, and Notre Dame are placed in will not toggle. You can't hop anyone if neither team plays a ****ing game.

Okay. Tech has two wins over currently ranked teams. Curb-stomped #13 on the road and #11 at home.

A&M has one win over a currently ranked team. A 1 point win over #9 on the road.

See also: FPI, SP+, overall offensive and defensive rankings. Overall efficiency rankings. Game control rankings. Margin of victory.

I'm not here to make the claim that Tech is a better team than A&M, just so we are clear on that. But I will say that if your assumption is that Tech has simply beat the teams on the schedule because it plays in a weak Big 12, you are only partially right. Tech has utterly dominated every team it has played, with one exception because we had a backup freshman QB making his first start, and even in that game, ASU scored a late touchdown to win by 4 points in the last minute. Tech plays in the Big 12, but it isn't playing like a Big 12 team. The CFP committee, right or wrong, takes all of those things into account.

Tech has what is probably the best defensive front 7 in the nation. As a 60 year old Tech fan, I honestly don't even know what to think of that. Watching this Tech team reminds me of watching the Wrecking Crew of old under RC Slocum. It's bizarre, at least for a Tech fan who is used to watching gimmick offenses. Tech may not win a single playoff game this year, but they won't be an easy out.

All that said I hope we don't play A&M until late in the CFP. A&M's offense will give Tech problems, I think.

Group of 5 rule, in. ACC winner no matter what, in.

If BYU wins and Alabama wins and you don't remove tech or Georgia, Notre Dame or OU have to go. Period. No room for anyone else.

Now way Texas gets in without absolute dishonesty. Vandy out. Miami out.

The committee is really hoping both BYU and Alabama don't win. Leave ND out and you just left out the blue blood. Leave OU out and they have more National Championships RECENTLY than said blue blood.

Heads will roll.

Yeah, Vandy's resume is better than Notre Dame's.

Vandy will get jobbed by the committee. They won't want to look too SEC heavy and they get to put their favorite puppy in there.

Not really. I don't think vandy will even have a top 25 win after this weekend. Maybe Tennessee squeaks in.

There is also a real possibility Tulane/UNT get 11 and JMU gets 12 if Duke beats UVA.

Just honestly shows that absurdity of guaranteed spots. If this was last year Tulane or UNT could be looking at a first round bye.

CFB was stuck in the past when they made that rule and didn't account for there being two good conferences and the rest mediocre. If it was prior to expansion when UT, OU, A&M were still in the big 12 and the pac was a conference it would have worked. Additionally it would have avoided situations like last year where Indiana dodged good competition all year in conference and same with A&M this year.

ACC is absolutely not guaranteed to get a spot.

If Duke wins they won't get in.

As it stands now there is really only one at large spot for grabs. If BYU beats tech they get it. If tech wins it's between Miami and ND

Guaranteed spots will be
SEC winner
Big 10 winner
big XII winner
AAC winner
UVA if they win. JMU if Duke wins or some team not even ranked in a non P5 conference should JMU lose.

Duke is 7-5. In no way are they getting in with a win next weekend.

I know this is dumb, but if you beat #24 and the committee drops them out of the rankings, they will count as a top 25 W on the Tuesday CFP metrics they use to rank, but it will be wiped away the next week. An example of this will be the Miami win over Pitt. Just the way their metrics work from what I understand. Hopefully Mizzou can find their way into the top 25 this week and help shore up our Top 25 record a bit.

No conference is in "no matter what"

If Duke pulls off the upset, the acc may very well be left out from the playoffs altogether

Uva opened as only a 2.5 point favorite.

It might happen.

That's a tech fan, sir. Haven't seen an Aggie with that optimism yet.

I think we will slide in behind either Oregon or Ole miss, though it could be considered a little harsh.

But the committee is big on recency
you misspelled "idiocy" again.

I dunno. If Duke wins, thats 5 conference champs not from the acc.

Osu
Uga
Tech
Tulane
Jmu/much

And 7 at large

Tamu
Ole miss
Ou

Oregon
Iu

That leaves 2 spots for either:

Bama, ND, miami, byu or vandy

Bama gets in if the committee is true to their word of not punishing a ccg loss (lol, like I believe them). They also have far better wins that either miami or Notre dame

ND gets in because they are already ahead

Byu, vandy, Miami get kicked to the curb.

Of course, the could just kick out bama and put both miami and ND in and call it a day.

Sorry guys but I don't trust this entire political setup of this playoff system at all.
First off...the committee will jump through hoops of fire to make sure Notre Dame is in the playoff. Period.
Secondly...do any of you really truly believe the ACC is going to let Duke (a basketball school) ruin their chances at a CFP spot?
I guarantee the ACC will not let Virginia lose the ACC Championship game.

Duke would be ahead of JMU in final ranking

Neither is currently ranked and Duke would have just beaten a top 16 team in UVA
Who?mikejones!
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Duke is not ranked in any poll.

Jmu is ranked in the top 25 of both the ap and coaches.

It'd be obvious partisanship for the committee to put Duke. the entire point of the top 5 conference champions replaced the power 4 +1 model would have to be ignored.

Miami might get it but duke wouldnt

As you well know, the AP and Coaches poll are not the relevant polls.

I guarantee you if Duke wins ACC they will be ahead of JMU. There is no chance this committee leaves out an ACC champion. Zero

No, I said as much yesterday.

Dukes about to have the following happen:

Travel delays( bad gas, pilot being late, shoes not shined on the plane)
Hotel probelms (bed bugs, faulty alarm system, only cold showers, phones that randomly ring, tvs thay cant be turned off, all night pool parties that are beyond loud)
Food problems (all the food will have some elements of food poisoning)
Zebra problems- the refs will be wearing blue and orange stripes.
