They set thay standard with fla st. It would give them a way to resolve the miami/ND scenario as well

The answer is "no" on "will they be left out?"

The "punishment" will be no worse than 7 seed

They will be in the playoffs but hopefully it pushes us ahead of them. It is a big difference have the 6 seed vs 7 this year. Probably the difference of playing Virginia and Indiana instead of Bama and Georgia in the first 2 rounds.

If Kiffin AND coaches are gone. Yes

There's no possible way that wouldn't become the biggest college football story of the year.

Ole Miss wouldnt have coaches and need to bring in new guys for the CFP

What is very problematical is the gutting of the staff. Plus possible players in the portal, too. According to the current reporting, Kiffin seems hell bent on burning down the Ole Miss program as his parting gift.

The Committee will have to take the extent of the damage into account somehow because what Ole Miss did during the season will no longer be applicable to the team currently.

They'll do what the spreadsheet says to do. I doubt there is a field called "head coach still there?"

Agree. If this all comes to fruition as it's being reported, what is left wouldn't the same OM team that went 11-1. Leaving them out is probably the "right" thing, but it would also be a travesty for the program/alums. This whole thing is such a debacle. Hopefully it accelerates some change, but not holding my breath.

I just can't see any way around it, if Kiffin decimates the team and staff on his way out of the door. And flip the question. Would it be fair to Ole Miss to keep them in and force them to play a good team that is completely intact and not in disarray?

But there was a field called "Starting QB out for season?" in 2023? They can punish or elevate for whatever they want. They have shown us that in the past.

Yes I think this will hurt them in the rankings just like it did Florida state with their qb being out. If assistant coaches leave too, who the heel will coach the playoffs

yes, a very big difference between the #6 and #7 this year

however if both Virginia (11-2) and Miami (10-2) make the playoff...

could UVA end up as the #10 since they would have won the ACC?

the same league that Miami plays in

Kiffin is a strange guy but he is not stupid. Leaving Ole Miss before the playoff would be disastrous for his reputation in many ways including recruiting.

I dont get the wink... since it appears that is just what he has done. He didnt just burn the bridge while standing on it but he lit fire to all of Oxford before that

Why would a player not stay with Ole Miss and then transfer to LSU or anywhere else once they are eliminated?

What if Duke wins? That would give UVA three losses, correct? Also, is the Committee ever going to recognize that Miami beat ND head to head?

That this conversation is occurring is a deeply problematic harbinger for the health of the sport. And I don't mean eyes on screens or money changing hands. I mean the pure enjoyment of the sport for the sake of the sport. Like so much of American (I recognize it's not isolated) culture, nothing matters but money. The product on the field is most valued for just that, being a monetized product. The headline stories have become very NBA-ish. The drama and politicking is more popular than the disciplined and meticulous organization of teamwork, gamesmanship, strategy, community, and camaraderie. We are all viewed as mere economic units and this type of "drama" is downstream.

ETA: It's been going this way for a while, but Lane is the first person to completely undercut a team's genuine NC aspirations, and he'll open the door for more coaches and players to do it, until it's a normalized occurrence, and the playoffs are a [shrug]

Under starred post.

I stopped watching the nfl over 20 years ago now. The last 2-3 years stopped watching other college football teams. When they stop allowing riders in motocross/supercross to publicly honor Jesus I will stop watching as well.

What happens if Ole Miss players opt out because Daddy Kiffin tells them, on the downlow, that they will need to if they are going to transfer to LSU with him?

What an epic cluster this could become. Kiffin didn't just hurt Ole Miss, he pillaged and razed Oxford

They should 100% be the worst seed out of all the 11-1s… you can't put them ahead of Aggies if the coach leaves… this Kiffin thing is good for us this year and bad for the long-term because he is a very good coach, especially in this era.

I think they should be judged on their record and whether Kiffin is there or not should not be a factor.

Honestly, committee should just treat them like nothing changed. That's what is fair to students, alumni program who built this. This isn't a 4 team playoff anymore so you have buffer.

Next year change rules so coaching hires from a playoffs team can only be made after playoffs are done. It screws up recruiting timelines for the first year, but that's the price of changing coaches

No, you dont treat them the same.

They are not the same team if they no longer have their Head Coach and possibly assistant coaches as well.

But it has to be taken into account. For the final seeding, it is the best 12 teams AT THAT TIME. Not during the regular season.

if Duke wins...Miami would definitely by the #10

if the committee doesn't recognize the head-to-head result this week...it may not happen at all

they love ND's "game control" and such

Just looked at the Coaches Poll. Both ND and Miami are 10-2. But ND still ranked ahead of Miami despite the head to head. That's just goofy as hell to me.

That games was 3 months ago 10 game winning streak and losing on the road are why ND is ahead

It's always been this way when you lose and where you lose matters

What is your opinion on Kiffin contacting other coaches and players under NIL and either offering/pressuring them to move to LSU with respect to tort. interference issues? It would be a state tort and LSU wouldn't necessarily have immunity in Miss.

Suing LSU wouldn't result in any remedy. But suing Kiffin for actively interfering with the contracts of his entire offensive staff? In Mississippi? Tie his ass up in court for awhile? Damages should be easy, money lost from being in the playoffs?

And although I do not trust the CFP Committee, taking the entire offensive staff and the standout players with him? Committee cannot ignore that like it didn't happen.
