If Lane had any class and commitment to his Ole MIss players, he would have told LSU "talk to me after the playoffs....if you don't like that, then I'm happy with my extension at Ole Miss". Instead, he threatens the Ole Miss administration that he'll pull his staff immediately if they don't let him coach the playoffs. Then he tells is offensive staff, you either get on the plane with me to LSU today, or you're not coming to LSU. Why would he do that to the players? Because it's all about him. So yeah....I blame Lane. The system may be bad, but he didn't have to play his hand like that.
Nobody acts with integrity or does the right thing any more. There is no social or cultural pressure to respect agreements or follow the written or unwritten rules.
People like Kiffin get away with it because social media rewards asshattery ... for every individual excoriating Kiffin, there is someone else who is supporting him, either because they are LSU fans, media *****s, connected to CAA in some way or just plain idiots.
The people who say "if you got a job offer you'd leave too" ignore the fact that millions of people change jobs every year without publicly destroying their old employer's competitiveness. There is a right way and wrong way. Kiffin was already making what, $9 million a year?? That's not enough to do the right thing?
