From an attorney friend, through another attorney... there are rumblings that Kiffin would drop LSU for the Bama role, if it were to open. His agent has made that clear and LSU willing to risk it.

In the unlikelihood that the Bama role opens up, Kiffin wants first dibs, as does the Bama boosters.

The juicy details are - Bama boosters would subsidize other programs (Florida, Penn State, ND to woo Kalen away) so they could seat Kiffin into the role long term. Bama fans aren't unhappy with their coach but doesn't feel like it's a long term fit for them the way Kiffin would be.

Yes - all rumor mill - but there are some big egos at play who want what they want... I'm not surprised, but the subsidizing is new news to me.

Please let this happen. I am all about chaos and turmoil (that does not involve A&M), so if even a fraction of this is true, I am here for it.

Isn't it fairly normal for coaches contracts to stipulate that if certain positions open up the contracted party is allowed to peruse those positions if they desire with no financial repercussions?

I was actually wondering if he would jump to sip if sark went nfl

The Deboer theory is interesting

I wonder if the nfl has any Deboer interest... seems like his temperament is much better suited for next level

Hear this out.

Kiffin signs with LSU. He recruits to LSU and develops relationships with LSU's HS recruits and TP players... establishes NIL numbers.

DeBoer loses CCG and then their 1st Rd game.

Bama pays someone to take DeBoer. If Bama fires DeBoer and he gets a $69M buyout. If they supplement another team to take him, everyone wins. DeBoer doesn't get fired and has less presure. The buying school doesn't have to pay Bama and they pay DeBoer with partial funding from Bama.

Kiffin goes to Bama and takes all of LSU's AND Ole MIss' top recruits.

This could be one of the biggest **** shows ever.

I think this might be some conjecture....about 2-3 years too early.
If DeBoer doesn't have them playing for a championship within the next 2 years those folks will be crazy restless and all eyes will turn towards Baton Rouge

The crazy Bama big cigars must be absolutely stewing right now they missed their shot a few years back.

They may be insane enough to plant a dead body on KD to get rid of him so they can scoop up Kiffin.

These aren't poverty programs. I'm not sure that they would need to be subsidized, lol.

The fact that Penn State hasn't announced a hire yet means this is certainly a possibility

I don't think the insinuation is that those teams need subsidizing. Rather that Bama would want to make this move happen so much they'd kick in money and take down any barriers to make it happen. Brings to mind the old saying that rich people didn't get that way by spending their own money.

If I'm Penn State, and I have two options on the table, strictly hypotheticals, of Matt Campbell and DeBoer as my choices. I have them relatively equal on my big board and now just need to figure out the logistics. Campbell I have an 8 figure buyout to Iowa State I owe. DeBoer has a similar 8 figure buyout, maybe even bigger than Campbell's, so I decide I'm going to go with Campbell, it's the better financial choice. But here comes Bama, offering to not only not make me pay a buyout, but actually pay me to hire my 1a or 1b coaching choice. Easy call.

Still say Hartline would be a great hire for PS. Great coach/recruiter plus it would significantly weaken OSU

In what world does DeBoer simply just leave a program that is a perennial contender, has unlimited resources, and makes him a top-10 highest paid coach??? His annual salary averages $10.9M ($10.25M now, increases $250k every year until maxing at $11.75M in 2031). Even if Bama chipped in $2M+ a year and he was willing to leave of his own accord to a lesser program, there are very few programs that have $10M+ to throw at a coach.

Bama doesn't have unlimited resources. That's been documented and the main reason Saban left.

More likely means they've struck out with their top choices

Penn state is about to get a downgrade at coach.

The chaos would be hilarious but why would Alabama fire DeBoer? He's sitting at 10-2 and is conference championship + playoff bound. If their QB Simpson heats up a little and starts playing like he was playing earlier this year, they'll be legit NC contenders. Not exactly a guy you can unless there's a scandal.
