I also heard something similar regarding Deboer to Penn St once the Gumps are out of the championship hunt.

The fact that Penn State hasn't announced a hire yet means this is certainly a possibility

More likely means they've struck out with their top choices

Penn state is about to get a downgrade at coach.

Sitake has lost a total of 3 games in TWO seasons (2 in 2024, 1 so far in 2025). He's a damn good coach.

The chaos would be hilarious but why would Alabama fire DeBoer? He's sitting at 10-2 and is conference championship + playoff bound. If their QB Simpson heats up a little and starts playing like he was playing earlier this year, they'll be legit NC contenders. Not exactly a guy you can unless there's a scandal.

The thought is that their coach would leave for Penn State voluntarily, not that he would get fired

Kiffin to Alabama and some how the swamp kitties hire Saban. Les Miles goes to Kentucky because he like to eat blue grass instead of green and South Carolina hires Houston Nut.

If this is true then Bama fans are idiots. Fire a coach that got you to a conference title game? Okay. Saban ruined them.

Isn't it fairly normal for coaches contracts to stipulate that if certain positions open up the contracted party is allowed to peruse those positions if they desire with no financial repercussions?

DeBoer loses CCG and then their 1st Rd game.

Bama pays someone to take DeBoer. If Bama fires DeBoer and he gets a $69M buyout. If they supplement another team to take him, everyone wins. DeBoer doesn't get fired and has less presure. The buying school doesn't have to pay Bama and they pay DeBoer with partial funding from Bama.

In what world does DeBoer simply just leave a program that is a perennial contender, has unlimited resources

The same Bama crying about making NIL legal and programs with bigger pockets being able to legally build equal rosters?

The crazy Bama big cigars must be absolutely stewing right now they missed their shot a few years back.

They may be insane enough to plant a dead body on KD to get rid of him so they can scoop up Kiffin.

Bama big cigars didn't want him. He definitely wanted Bama.

Not sure how they'd feel now. I'd guess he'd walk on his hands to get to Tuscaloosa, though. Maybe they'd offer him knowing he crippled Ole Miss and would further injure LSU.

I agree, the only premier program in the state and the state government is 100% behind you. Kiffin and LSU are a perfect match and will be a problem for all teams. They are my favorite team when the Aggies are not in the equation.

while many will probably scoff at this
comment in today's football i agree with you. LSUis very unique in the talent bed it sits on and no other in state school as competition. tbrow in they will steal from a children's hospital to help fund the football team and you would be hard pressed to fail at LSU. Brian Kelly was a joke and was completely exposed as a head coach.

Hear this out.

Kiffin signs with LSU. He recruits to LSU and develops relationships with LSU's HS recruits and TP players... establishes NIL numbers.

DeBoer loses CCG and then their 1st Rd game.

Kiffin goes to Bama and takes all of LSU's AND Ole MIss' top recruits.

This could be one of the biggest **** shows ever.

I said this a few weeks ago when the rumblings about sark to the NFL. Lane takes his crew to LSU, a few weeks after the transfer portal closes he jumps to tu with a wagon full of talent...

You do realize that being able to compete with other schools from an NIL perspective and disagreeing with the premise of having to offer 18 year olds millions of dollars to get them to consider playing for you are not mutually exclusive concepts right? Does Jordan Carter ring a bell?

I think they're referring to Bama whining after they lost their advantage once schools with deeper pockets were able to flex and start out-spending them legally

I think the underlying premise is that DeBoer realizes he doesn't fit in that well at Bama and believes PSU would be a better fit. DeBoer to PSU was a topic on Full Ride this morning. Whether Kiffen would be in play is anybody's guess.

DeBoer has more skins on the wall than Kiffin does… even with his time before bama. Would be dumb as hell for bama to put that kind of change on the table.

According to article I just read elsewhere, Penn State has been trying to get DeBoer for weeks and finally gave up and went after BYU coach. So I guess that answers the question about DeBoer leaving on his own, if true. Buy maybe that's been known.

When push comes to shove, I am guessing Bama wants no part of the "LOOK AT ME!!!" attitude and drama that follows Kiffin everywhere he goes.

Texas Tech had a running back in the '90s named Byron Hanspard (sp.?) He was the #1 RB recruit in the nation - could have gone to any school he wanted to. He committed to Notre Dame, but a few days before signing day, he said God spoke to him while he was in the shower and told him to go to Texas Tech. Keep in mind, at the time, Tech was nothing. Terrible facilities, a perennial 7-4 team (only played 11 games back then), and a trip to the Copper Bowl in Arizona was a huge deal. So instead of competing for national titles, playing in Fiesta, Orange, and Cotton Bowl caliber games (back when people cared about bowls), he opted to go to Lubbock. And if you think Lubbock is awful now...and it is...you should have seen it 30+ years ago. Yeesh...it was the armpit of not just the State of Texas...it was the armpit of the earth.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

If the NCAA didn't commit felony-level anti-trust violations every time it passes legislation that intentionally disadvantaged student athletes to prevent them benefiting from their own self-promotion then your post would not sound like yet more sour grapes with a hint of control issues…
