What a complete embarrassment for the ACC. The fact this is even a possibility and they fail to have any teams ranked 1-12 at this point makes that conference a complete joke. They should be regulated to G5 status as punishment.

ACC sold their soul to get the ND "affiliation" without being a conference member. That resulted in the awkward scheduling where depending on the year, conference games are not counted as conference games for purposes of which teams go to the CCG. All to accommodate ND's demands.

Hence, a four/five loss Duke is in the CCG. ACC screwed themselves.

While the committee has made some questionable decisions, nothing they have done to date would approach putting a 7-5 team, that lost to Illinois, Tulane, and UConn, in the top 25. I think we can rule that out. At least I hope so.

Bama was bumped out of the #11 slot last year for #16 Clemson. If they get bumped out for a 2nd year in a row the uproar will be biblical.

Clemson won the ACC and got the auto bid. Same thing could happen this year, but it would be because of the Big XII and not the ACC. The cut line for at large teams to make the field this year is 10 if Tech wins the Big XII. However, if BYU wins, it effectively becomes 9. So, absent a win against UGA, or being magically moved up in this week's rankings to 9 over ND (and then watch the ND vs Miami conflict rage), Bama is squarely on the bubble and has to hope that Tech wins in Arlington.

A Duke win will unlikely get them in the CFP. James Madison can secure a bid by beating Troy in the Sun Belt Championship.

ND is not an indy. Nor or they a conference member. They cannot play in the ACC CCG because they play so few actual ACC conference games but they are still eligible for at large bid in the playoffs?

The ACC likely wouldn't be facing the possibility of a 7-5 team winning the conference if they had a normal conference setup with 9 games played, and if the ACC makes ND choose, where do they do? They need a conference home for all their other sports, even if they think football can stay independent.

My understanding back in the day that ND didn't want to join the B1G because of their research arms being up in every, member's bizness. IDK is that is still the case, though. Even the service academies are in a conference these days. Special exceptions for ND need to end.
