My understanding back in the day that ND didn't want to join the B1G because of their research arms being up in every, member's bizness. IDK is that is still the case, though. Even the service academies are in a conference these days. Special exceptions for ND need to end.
It's really just resentment over being blackballed by Michigan. Fielding Yost was a horrible person. So, Notre Dame took lemons and made lemonade. But, it's time for the special status to end.
