Many of you are looking at this wrong, you are looking at the rankings and not the bracket. There are five guaranteed spots and right now the SEC, Big Ten and big 12 claim 3 (though Technical at 4 is a joke). The other two, whomever they will be, will be the 11 and 12 seeds.
BYU is currently OUT of the CFP despite their ranking. If we want to move up we would want BYU to win, which would take Technical out of the top 4 and ND would be out of the CFP.
Cow has no chance or path to get in, neither does Miami given ND was put ahead of them and with neither playing this weekend that won't change.
Based on the rankings and the bracket, other than the two lowest ranked conference champs (ACC and G5) really only BYU is in a position to play their way in as a conference champ and that knocks ND out.
Even Duke winning the ACC wouldn't change the math, the ACC would be out and two G5 champs in.
