Recency bias should not be a thing. We have comparable if not better resume than Oregon, tech and ole miss. To be behind ALL of them is a complete disrespect. We should be 5 or 6 right now imo. Tech should only pass us if they win their championship but right now, no way should they be ahead of us.

I think we could make an argument to be ahead of Oregon, Ole Miss & Tech, but I don't think it is a huge disrespect.

We played 2 above average teams all year long. We won one (ND) and lost one (tu). Unfortunately, the win was a long time ago and the loss was a few days ago.

We beat the hell out of a bunch of bad teams, but our showing vs USC (first half) and tu (2nd half) are basically what is in people's heads right now.

Either way, if we're being disrespected, the answer is easy - go get a home win and show people that they were misjudging us.

Lose a home game (even against ND) and we're basically showing folks that we are what they pegged us as (or worse).

If dopey Shane Beamer would have kicked that field goal, we would have lost to South Carolina and be out of the playoffs. Whatever spot we finally get, we shouldn't complain. We were not solid in the home stretch !

Wrong. They dropped from 2 to 6 after losing to Michigan last year.

OSU dropped into the 8/9 game against Tennessee at home. It is why they beat Oregon the one seed in round two

Ohio St 6 in the final CFP ranking, but 8 in the CFP seeding due to the four highest ranked conference champs getting the No 1 thru 4 seeds (sliding others down two spots). Glad they got rid of that part of the seeding for this season

Why does so many say this?

That was a 47 or 48 yard field goal. Hardly automatic. Their kicker's longest FG all year was 49. It was 50-50 if he would make it.

And if he did, maybe Klein doesn't call that stupid play at the goal line.

None of this matters.

The most important game of the year is the next and it looks like it will be held at Kyle Field. Lets stuff 108,000 screaming Aggies in there to help motivate the Aggies to victory in what will be a historical game.

Win the next game.

BS. We weren't "manhandled" in that game. Did you look at the first half stats? Manning had completed only 8 of 30 throws for 49 yards at the half. We played 30 minutes of bad football and lost by ten points. And but for a missed field goal it would have been one score. Thats a long ways from a dominant blow out game.

So the committee will punish us for losing our last game, even though it was a road loss against a team theu rank highly and the whole body of work was better and our SOS and other metrics are superior, but...

...they won't punish teams who lose this weekend because it's an extra game and we should rely more on those team's season as a whole.

That sounds like **** people say when they are trying to justify doing something they'd like to do even if the guildelines they are supposed to follow tells them otherwise. **** it, let's just win the whole thing and then take their wives out to a nice seafood dinner.

God I'm so tired of this nonsense. The weak schedule crap was started by sips and blasted throughout the media. You idiots bought it hard.

We played teams with top 30 TALENT in the country, who had 2 or less losses when we played, and ended up giving up on their seasons and / or firing their coach after we ended any chance their season would mean anything. This includes, Auburn, Florida, Miss St (ya.. go look, they were still a fringe top 25 team who had beaten mighty.. checks notes.. Texas Tech daddy Arizona State), LSU, Missouri. All of those teams are 10-12 win Big 12 teams. All of those teams EACH have more future NFL talent than the entirety of the schedules Tech, BYU, Oregon, and Indiana had to face. In a conference, some teams have to lose a lot of games to have this many 1 and 2 loss teams. Teams that are probably in the hunt to win every single other conference.

I'm not surprised at all by the ranking. The committee would rather not have A&M in the playoffs at all.
I've posted that there's a real possibility that we might not be hosting a playoff game.
If and when that happens then you'll see a meltdown!

Nailed it.

Don't get why all the angst and surprise. Committee has been under-ranking A&M up until the tu game due to the 'subjectivity' eye test. They have been showing their views for many weeks and couldn't wait to drop us.

Unfortunately, we had a poor Nov (1st half vs USCe was not what a top 5 team allows to happen) and then being outscored vs tu (essentially lost all 3 phases of the game and really stunk in 2nd half).

That is why we are going to get knocked down regardless of any other argument. We were the only top 12 team to lose last weekend.

Yes, recency bias, but we have not been playing like a top 5 team in Nov...we've regressed and not progressed.

My only beef was not punishing Ole Miss for their head coach fiasco. Teams have gotten dinged for stuff like QB1 injuries before - head coaching changes are fair game.

I thought we should be #6 based on that.

Exactly

They are a protected blue blood. We are not. It's that simple.

they were also favored big in that game by like 21 at home -- so cant look much worse, we were favored by 3? and on the road at night

people need to take their puss-y feelings out of it, we were not beaten bad - we had a poor showing in the second half. We can beat anyone still in the nation.

Compare our SEC slate with Ole Miss and Bama. Also, look at common opponents. Look at point plus home away differentials.

Make a xls and present to the class. Lotsa luck....

Then do the same but Oregon in B1G. No common opponents beeteedubs.

Ohio State dropped from #2 to #6. You can check it on the NCAA CFP website.

If we are so impressive, why are we worried about who we are matched up with at home? Are we only impressive every once in a while? That's not good enough regardless of who we are playing.

Most big programs can beat anyone on any given day. SC could have easily beaten us. We could have easily beaten Texas. Arkansas could have beat the majority of the teams they played, including us.

Recency bias is a thing and rightly so. A loss in the first game of the season shouldn't mean as much as a loss in the last game.

Think they were #2 and dropped to #6 … but did lose to rival at home to a 6-5 team.
