Yes, the indiana/OSU thing is basically musical chairs with tje 2 and 3 spot. if indiana loses- they go to 3. if Osu loses, they go to 2 or 3. depending on how Ga looks.

The sad thing is I could see the committee still keeping T Tech ahead of us even if they lose.

They would claim it was a conf champ game so they shouldn't drop too much.

Meanwhile T Tech would have a worse record and a worse strength of schedule but be ahead of us.

I think bama beats Georgia and we get ou.

I could see that as well but I really don't see byu hanging with tech

IMO, literally any other matchup is better than ND, sans OSU. Hope you're right.

Bama and Tech both lose, BYU jumps us, Bama to 10. ND 9, and Tech moves behind us at 8. We play Bama.

I think this is generally right. Also I think there's a good chance that if Bama moves and ND and Miami are right next to each other, then Miami jumps them.

The question to me is who do we want to play? Home v. Oklahoma feels to me like our best matchup, but it would mean dropping to 8 and having OSU likely waiting for us in round two. Bama always scares me cause it's Bama. I'd like our chances against Tech and Miami, though I don't think any are anywhere close to easy wins.

Bama to 10 creates a possible Bama-Georgia rematch in the quarterfinals

I initially though the same thing...Bama moved up so they are protected and fall to 10 if/when the lose to Georgia.
But would committee really have scenario where if Bama beats us (or whoever the 7 seed is) and plays Georgia again foire the 3rd time this season and that means Georgia would play Bama in back to back games

I don't see them putting that scenario in place. Georgia and Bama IMO wouldn't meet until semifinal or finals . I just don't see them putting them in a possible situation to play in the quarterfinals

They can't even work out that if you have two 2 loss teams and one beat the other which is better. How the hell are they going to predict a future game that has not been played?

6 is the sweet spot assuming IU ends up in the three hole

The committee is using eyeballs, ratings and who can put butts in seats and bring in revenue for network cable. 1-4 is a has to ranking, anything above 4, is cable ratings and seat ratings

The current rankings have two regular season rematches in round 1 (A&M-ND and Bama-OU). I really hope that doesn't end up being the case. Boring. OU and Bama may be SEC as well, but at least we haven't played them this year.

Imagine if we went back to the old BCS system with conference tie-ins to the bowls, where they actually meant something. Afterwards, do a "plus 1" game for the natty a week later. Move national signing day and the transfer portal to February so coaches won't be leaving in the middle of the season. The old way might actually be better.

If not, do a 24 team playoff with byes and shorten the regular season back to 11 games. That way there is the potential for hosting multiple playoff games.

If the committee holds true to conference championship game losers not being punished (not that they've kept their word on anything), then I don't think Tech would drop below us for losing.

Do you have a link to that promise?

From what I have seen, its seems it will be another factor to look at, but they will also take in to consideration that the team played and extra game and don't want to be punitive.
