What does his family history have to do with winning the Heisman? How does that make him more worthy than anyone else?

I mean, he seems like a great kid and if he deserves the Heisman, he should win it but that's a weird post.

Sorry, someone else mentioned it in the thread, but I don't understand how someone's family history affects how worthy, good or not good they are a quarterback.

What is different about his story? I would think a lot of people would fall into that category.

Not at all.

Say what you want.

People say what they want.

It's all good.

He seems like a good kid.

Happy that he and Indiana won.

Okay, back to autism. Head coach of Indiana, Curt Cignetti, the tv post game interview with all the analysts. He's got to be on the spectrum, Aspergers, at the very least.

According to Numbers and Wikipedia, Fernando Mendoza V played HS football at Christopher Columbus in Miami, FL. As a recruit in 2022 he was a 3-star, 134th-rated QB in the country, first committed to Yale, but then flipped to Cal before the 2022 season during which he redshirted. Mendoza started 19 games in '23 and '24 in which Cal's record was 9-10., He then entered the portal in Dec. '24 and transferred to Indiana. Christopher Mendoza's had a pretty fair season. Seems like he's the real deal, to me at least.

Yes, autistic people eagerly jump in front of the camera and give enthusiastic interviews after leading athletic teams to victory.

The word autistic gets thrown around so carelessly these days, to simply describe someone who uses slightly different language than we've become accustomed to.

Never really watched the kid before tonight. He changed my mind though, he should win the heisman. His interview after the game was a little odd but I just thought he was overjoyed/excited. If you listen to what he said it was a great interview, he sounds like he is a great young man and has is priorities in order. I will be cheering for him & Indiana as my "other team" from here on out.

If you look at his bio he was initially committed to Yale before switching to Cal. With those schools interested in him he can clearly do more than just throw a football.
