* with the duke upset, allows the committee to backdoor the ACC in.
* doubt they remove the sec runner up, so nd out.
* they were out anyway but ohio-st loss weakens sips case.
* only way we move UP in the rankings if they give a little more weight to kiffin's leaving since nothing potentially positive for us happened on the field this weekend.

*** general comments ***
* i prefer this format to the old final 4. allowing marginal teams in is much more preferable than what happened to free-shoes-U a couple of years ago.
* no matter the format, there are always going to arguments at the bubble (see ncaa basketball) BUT with 12 any team that gets left out can always have relative gripes but the main culprit for their exclusion is facing them in the mirror. one loss is forgivable, any more than that and you are clearly at the mercy of someone else's judgement.
* without the expansion, we'd be on the outside looking in. hell even with just 8, i wouldn't have been surprised if they had finagled a way to freeze us out.
* things specific to this year i don't know how you fix. such a big discrepancy in the path for 7/8 rather than 5/6 in the first round.
* such a huge discrepancy, in 5 v 6 in the second round. out of the top 4, whoever gets to play tceh rather than the other 3 just won the lottery.

I would be good with this.

Make it happen.

I wouldn't be suprised if Committe drops bama out and replaces with Miami.
But how do they keep Notre Dame at 9 and Miami at 10 when Miami beat ND head to head

But yes Miami to Kyle is very very possible

I think the committee needs to publish transcripts of closed door meetings. This would take away a lot of the bull**** n

I think it's Miami, Alabama, or an outside shot at Tulane if the committee is trying hard to avoid rematches.

My prediction is Alabama.

Heather Dinich just said on sportscenter that Notre Dame would probably be #9 and Alabama #10, since that's who the committee has been comparing.

Bama would have to be out. How can you change the ND-Miami rankings one week late when neither has played a game?

Pretty sure the committee moved Bama up a spot last week so they could hedge against a loss, or BYU win

They'd have to be viewed as near equals on the field. Dinich just made it seem like the committee views ND as a much better team.

Alabama doesn't deserve another shot. They have one bad loss and 3 to existing Cfp teams.

Heather Dinich still thinks Bama's beaten 4 straight ranked teams.

I wouldn't believe anything she says.

don't necessarily disagree but if that happens, it needs to be the death of conference championship games. i;d be pissed if we eventually get there and not only did we not win but it knocked us out of the cfp. not surpised, just pissed. (hell, if it didn't happen this year, i'll probably be dead before we make an sec championship game, so maybe not even pissed.)

We really should yell and shout for the 6 seed over coaching turmoil Ole Miss.

Get rid of the confeeence championships or thr SEC needs to figure a better way to pick teams in the championship. The schedule and Current tie breaker rules don't necessarily pit the best 2 teams IMO.

This year revealed a lot of issues with the system.

It would be a good matchup if their players weren't significantly more talented than our players.

I can't buy bama has better players than us. Are you saying their coaching staff is bad then? How come they can't run the ball then?

That is not true. This isn't Sabans Bama teams.

They still have a significantly more talented roster and starting 22. That's just a fact. I'm not saying we can't beat them, but we likely won't be favored.

Saying Bama's loss today would keep them out and thus gut the desire for a CCG ignores reality. It assumes teams are solely in control of their own destiny. They aren't, except maybe teams that go undefeated as other games' results change things. With today's results, Bama's loss to FSU takes on a higher meaning than it might have last week. The same would have been true had Georgia lost to Tech or had BYU won today.

I don't see much difference in that and the number 1 seed like Oregon last year losing in the quarters. Virginia is not only out of the playoffs but their bowl stock will crater after the loss to Duke. So these CCG results DO affect things on other levels, not just the CFP.

I think this is our best chance to advance….

Miami is the worst of the three options.

ND, Alabama, or Miami…. I'd take the Canes! Saw them play at SMU this year… They are much weaker than ND or Bama!
