ND could legitimately have won the national championship. They are power rated top 5 in most metrics. But I understand why they were left out because of h2h and not having a conference championship game. Having two group of 5 teams that will lose by 3+ scores is really dumb and not good television.
Totally agree with the group of 5 teams. Feel like we are going to get repeats of SMU v Penn State last year

Actually, that's not true. It's slightly more likely that the team that won the first game will also win the rematch, historically speaking.
Miami is good, so I'm not excited to play them. Probably edge to A&M, 60/40 to win. Having said that, some of the metrics ND was putting up this year were getting pretty scary. It feels like beating them twice would have been 50/50 at best. So, overall playing Miami probably boosts A&M odds 10% or so, but I wouldn't run off and buy Cotton Bowl tickets just because the first game is against Miami.
I think Notre Dame is being hyped too much.
Marcel has got to read the defense and know when to run and when to pass.
Our defense has got to stop the run and the secondary needs to cover without having pass interference calls.

They played a **** scheudle after their 1st game. Nearly 0 competition from week 3 to the end of the season.
How would we know if they are any good when they lost their chances to prove it?
Our projected line against ND was a pickem and Miami we are opening around -4 so ya I agree I think we did about as good as we could do.
One thing about Miami and I'll fully admit that I'm being a hater, but I just think Beck is total garbage even when he was at Georgia. I'm glad we are playing him.

I am no fan of ND, but they got screwed. They are, by a million miles, so much better than JMU. Why was JMU chosen over ND?

If UVa had won, replace JMU with them and it would be the same, slightly less lopsided problem. Notre Dame is better than both of these teams.

Right but in that scenario ND would stay in. Only reason Miami is in is that the system could not politically handle the ACC having 0 teams.

Miami has been playing a lot better over the last month. They blew out teams they were supposed to blow out. Their closest game in the last 4 weeks was 17 points on the road at VT.
This is going to be similar to the Texas game. They have an offense that can get hot when they play well but have been inconsistent against good competition. They have a defense that can keep them in the game.
Their front four on D will be about as good as anybody we've played this year. They are similar to us with the exotic third down packages on defense. Will need to stay in front of the chains.
Toney is Mario Craver but has not dropped a pass this season.
