Unreal, they get a "guarantee" offered to no one else about playoff acceptance.

If true, what a joke.

So which specific governing body agreed upon this MOU? and what is the procedure for getting it overturned? I feel a grass roots movement coming!

ND has zero leverage, shocking the committee would agree to this, like what is ND going to do? Not participate in college football?

college football, the beautiful disaster never fails to deliver

it really does speak to the product on the field that an organization that has been completely inept for 50+ years can still be the second most popular sport in the country

What I was wondering. Is it authorized? By whom? Is it even enforceable? My gut feeling is no, it is not.

This can't be real. If so let the lawsuits start. What affords them a guarantee? The fact that they aren't in a conference? That's a choice they've made, not forced upon them.

So basically let's add a ND, bama, Michigan, tu,, michigan, etc guarantee. This way we dont even have to play the season. Just go straight to playoffs each year.

I would like a MOU stating that ND is NEVER ranked higher than 13. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This will be the last straw for me. The conference guarantees etc make it pointless to watch

Question? Has ND's TV deal with NBC been recently renewed or extended? Media runs the CFP, sems to me those media outlets also have leverage here.

I always suspected college football was dirty (at least for more than a decade).

But this is sort of like Kapaernik (sp?) kneeling for the National Anthem. If this goes thru, college football will be much harder for me to watch/enjoy moving forward.

Also, I apologize for misspell in title. Whoever fixes that sort of thing can change it to "ticket"

And the "rules" the committee use continue to get dumber. I wish the SEC and B1G could play nice and leave this stupid CFP behind, taking a few key other schools with them

Notre Dame and their fans are more than welcome to cry harder. A name only carries you so far, and in their case, it carries a lot further than it should.

If they wanted in, they should've beaten Miami or us. They didn't, so they can sit and watch December and January and wipe away the tears while doing so.

I wish all the P4 teams boycott ND and not play them. I mean, how much does Purdue lose by not having them on their schedule?

I get it, but Miami lost to two crap teams. Their frustration makes sense. All this subjective "well they did/didn't do ______" can always be turned around on the other team.

IMO, ACC has every reason to ditch their association with ND, all the way indy or not. Would the B1G grant them full membership with the separate ND/NBC TV deal intact? I'd wager the Big XII would since they don't have a conference network.

But if ND truly ends up as an indy, they can easily be boycotted.

It's not stupid, it's corruption. It's blatant special treatment. ND and tu are cut from the same cloth.

Notre Dame doesn't need to play anybody worth a damn anymore. They can just blow out Navy and Pitt every year and guarantee themselves a spot in the playoff.

The true solution is to win the games that matter, or JOIN A CONFERENCE. But now they don't have to, because they're Notre Dame. College Football princesses.

Well, it sounds like there is a press conference tomorrow by ND where they could possibly ditch the ACC on their own. ND AD said yesterday that this outcome has steeled their resolve to be even more independent and then said today that the ACC somehow hurt them with this playoff outcome, thus the press conference tomorrow.

I hope they totally bail and become a pariah and then everyone else blackballs them.

This carve out rule for ND is so blatantly unfair as to almost be unbelievable. Anyone with ties to A&M BMDs needs to get on the horn and make the aware of it and have them pressuring our AD to then pressure Sankey to raise hell about it now and get it killed. I can't believe this has been allowed to happen by the SEC and the Big10. I really hope Ohio State and/or Georgia get screwed by this rule next year if it stays in place. It's going to take one of them getting screwed over for something to change, most likely.

But ND didn't lose to two ****ty teams.

Pate said this best: no matter which side of the coin you're on, the other side has an equal amount of valid point. Picking teams to be in always was and always will be ******ed. I can't wait for college football to finally create objective criteria for playoff entry. Probably 10+ years away though.

Notre Dame is so damned special that they needed the committee to carve out a playoff spot for them next year? That is absolutely rich...6' up a cow's rectum rich. I'm going to ruthlessly ridicule the hell out any t-shirt domer sporting their gear...so help me Almighty.

Unbelievable

I thought the one thing the committee actually got right this season was NOT rewarding NDs season where they lost to the only 2 real games on their schedule and then got by on unranked cupcakes

But now they get to do this literally every year and are automatically in the playoff without question

It's not about getting the best teams in. It's about getting the most eyeballs and the most $$$$$. And they had to put an ACC team in.

An MOU doesn't mean squat since they are non-binding. They generally lay out terms for a legally binding agreement in the future, if/when certain conditions are met.

Hopefully, the more people learn about it the more outraged everyone becomes and the committee is forced to ignore it.
