Notre Dame and their fans are more than welcome to cry harder. A name only carries you so far, and in their case, it carries a lot further than it should.
If they wanted in, they should've beaten Miami or us. They didn't, so they can sit and watch December and January and wipe away the tears while doing so.
I get it, but Miami lost to two crap teams. Their frustration makes sense. All this subjective "well they did/didn't do ______" can always be turned around on the other team.
Miami won their one head-to-head meeting. Can't turn that one around.
But ND didn't lose to two ****ty teams.
Pate said this best: no matter which side of the coin you're on, the other side has an equal amount of valid point. Picking teams to be in always was and always will be ******ed. I can't wait for college football to finally create objective criteria for playoff entry. Probably 10+ years away though.

So what's the problem?
Just rank them 13th or right outside of whatever the number is.

Just gives teams more incentive to beat them.
USC should be better next year.
Miami should get geared up.

I wish all the P4 teams boycott ND and not play them. I mean, how much does Purdue lose by not having them on their schedule?
IMO, ACC has every reason to ditch their association with ND, all the way indy or not. Would the B1G grant them full membership with the separate ND/NBC TV deal intact? I'd wager the Big XII would since they don't have a conference network.
But if ND truly ends up as an indy, they can easily be boycotted.

Add to this, nobody watches them anymore. Check. Texas A&M has had better tv ratings than Notre Dame in each of the last 3 years. Let that sink in. More people watch Texas A&M football than watch Notre Dame football according to Nielsen, On3 and ESPN.

NBC partially owns the B1G Network?

No, I think the teams own that. They are part of the Broadcast deal along with CBS and FOX. So merging ND into the BIG Ten shouldn't be hard.

Negative. That is not how the B1G Network has ever been structured and is the reason the B1G has always had a buy-in for new members after the launching of the conference network. The conference owned 49% and Fox owned 51% of the network. As they added teams, Fox didn't have enough timeslots particularly with their deal with the Big XII.
But folding ND's deal with NBC with the B1G Network as their "buy-in"? Would the original members be okay with that?.
(FTR: SEC did their deal differently. ESPN and only ESPN owns the SEC Network.)
Notre Dame is exiting ACC for non-football sports and is currently looking for a new home. Expect an announcement by the end of Jan. This is breaking.

So last year Alabama made the biggest stink about being left out, and this year the committee makes sure they get in even with 3 losses.
This year ND is making the biggest stink, so of course, we will never have a CFP without them ever again I'm certain.
Can we just go ahead and codify that Alabama and ND have permanent spots in the CFP in perpetuity, because apparently that's what they seem to think they deserve.

Bama was in before we lost to tu. They were the highest ranked 2 loss team. Why should they be punished for playing in a championship when it's been understood from the beginning of the system that conference championship results would not cause a team to be bounced? That was one of the few stated guidelines ever disclosed by this cluster.

How easy is it for a school to cancel a game with ND for the following season? The whole ACC on their schedule should cancel next years games. Force those effers to play a complete group of 5 schedule.

ND is contractually obligated to play a five ACC team schedule every year with teams rotating. That agreemtn has really screwed with ACC scheduling in that they now have what they call nonconference games against other ACC teams.
The only advantage the ACC got out of the arrangement with ND was getting a better deal with ESPN on the ACC Network. Now? I think the ACC should tell ND not to let the door hit them in the ass on their way out.

Laughable if you think the ACC doesn't want ND now simply bc ND is whining about the ACC being part of the lobbying effort to keep ND out.
The ACC is much more valuable even with a partial alliance with ND. They aren't gonna let hurt feelings get in the way of those media dollars.
