Rename the school South Bend State

It won't be the SEC or BIG so it has to be the big12. They'd take them in a heartbeat
Pretty sure the BIg10 would take them in half a heartbeat
You think the BIG would offer a partial membership to help ND athletics without football scheduling? I'm not so sure

There is this: Notre Dame AD says ACC did 'permanent damage' to relationship with push for Miami over Irish
Maybe this is precipitating an ND-ACC divorce of sorts.
The ACC Network showed the Miami-ND game pretty much on repeat the few days before the selection show. I guess ND didn't care for that.
I guess not! And I can understand their position on that I think. In the end ND will still get their dispensations. This "MOU" that kicks in next year that says they get a playoff spot guaranteed as long as they are in the top 12 means this won't happen to them in the future. Or at least it would be a lot harder. Notre Dame went 0-2 to start the season and only got as low as #24. In four weeks they were #16. Two games after that they were #12 again.
The Irish string together a couple of first downs, and they'll get a first place vote from some voters.

IF they are leaving the ACC, they are most likely going BIG 10 as a full member. The BIG offers a national footprint (or close to it) which is something no conference did when they signed the ACC affiliate deal.

Their AD was doing the rounds before the committee decision saying being independent was in ND's DNA. It's like ND is completely lacking is self awareness.
I’m told that ND has already informed ACC they are going to go through the process of exiting the conference. How soon they are able to negotiate the exit is going to be a closely watched decision process by certain full members

They meant FOR football.
But the tweet states ND is looking for a non-football scheduling partner to move their athletics out of the ACC. This is the sweet partial membership deal they have with the ACC. Why would the BIG or SEC accept that agreement without ND football membership? ND will of course never join a conference for football scheduling because they have the NBC TV deal.

The conferences should freeze Notre Dame out. Refuse to play them.

ND and tu should band together and start their own Conference. They could play each other 12 times. And by virtue of only two teams, both get to play in the conference championship game.
No way either one has a good enough record to make the playoffs in that scenario either.

As a IU grad who grew up 4 miles north of ND's campus loving ND football I don't get it the melt. Yeah it sucks they are not in but to me they can't preach they develop men and just quit like they did. Declining a bowl invite because you got snubbed is weak and I don't agree with it. The entire city of South Bend is a full on melt over this including my own wife. The excuses and local media are exhausting. I am hearing rumors of them ditching the ACC now and joining the BIG12. I listened to the AD today on the Dan Patrick Show and it was weak. They need to join a conference and drop the holier than though act.

It was how this whole thing went down. ND jumped by Alabama after they barely showed a pulse against Auburn then not dropping after Georgia. ESPN making each broadcaster parrot the H2H storyline via UM ND and putting it on loop on ACC tv all friggin day before the final committee meeting. This was ESPN manipulating outcomes to make more money for ESPN entities. Too much power in one tv corporation. ND does have a problem going forward if special treatment is gonna be given to ESPN affiliated teams.

Except head for head is not the rule for everyone. My biggest gripe with the CFP is their inconsistency from team to team on what their reasoning is.

I don't mind them not doing the Pop Tart Bowl in protest. But ofc those p*ssies don't want to join the Big10 or SEC where it's not all 3-star recruits.

Hard to be consistent when they reach a conclusion AND THEN try to reverse engineer it to justify it.

Yes, and that's one of the problems. They made different rules for different teams for different reasons and then trying to change it at the end.
I heard someone today on sports talk radio saying they really shouldn't put out weekly rankings and just wait till the end because then they can justify it more.
When you have people in and out then back and forth, it's more messed up. I think they have a point there.

Bevacqua said he spoke with ACC commissioner Jim Phillips, and while he didn't detail their phone conversation, he expressed Notre Dame's displeasure with the social media posts. Another X post from the ACC account on Nov. 17 showed posts from media members citing Miami's head-to-head edge against Notre Dame.
