Is this a problem? Is this the future?

Maybe we just join the sun belt conference and go to the playoffs every year

They should go 12-0 there.

Normally the Big 12 champ has no business in the playoffs. At least Tech bought enough talent that they may be able to compete. It will be interesting how they adjust/handle first tough team they've seen all year when Oregon makes its through.

Committee thinks it is tough and agrees.

Even with a loss they get a bye with similar schedule this year. They dont even try to play a decent non-conference game.

I actually do think Tech is legit even with their questionable schedule.

I dont disagree, but any average SEC team would be 12-0 w this schedule

Tenn
Vandy
Texas
A&M
OU
Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Mizzou
on and on and on

tech has lucked in to a league where they have no natural predators, they are going to run this show for the next decade

if college football teams were a stock i would be going all in on tech. in the NIL and transfer portal era they re positioned to make the playoffs every year. with their billion dollar booster they should win the big 12 9 out of 10 years. there is no program that can compete in the big 12 financially. they are the epitome of a big fish in a small pond.

Houston will be their hardest game. They are probably the equivalent of Miss St.

Why do does the SEC have the P4 OOC opponent rule?

Yet the Big12 and Big10 do not?

It seems we are trying to shoot ourselves in the foot.

We need to move back to the Big 12 immediately following this playoff run. We will make the missed money from being in the SEC through playoff appearances and marketing

2 of your 3 OOC games are against FCS schools and your "marquee" OOC games is a realignment leftover that won 2 games this season. The Big-12 is already super weak, and they play their last 5 conference games at home. This is embarrassing, even for tceh.

Go look at Notre Dames 26 schedule. Their crying is pathetic

We actually do.

We scheduled Oregon State years ago, back when they were doing pretty good and would be a good P4 non-conference opponent.

Had no idea at the time what would eventually happen...but the contracts were already in place.

OR...

This is the one we ended up getting because Oregon had to cancel our game with them to retain the rivalry with OSU after the Pac12 fell apart.

(We had both a contract with OSU at one time and then this also happened, and I can't remember if this 2026 game is from the contract or the negotiation with Oregon, or if this year's game was from the negotiation with Oregon...I think it's the latter).

It looks terrible now, but I know when we originally did the agreement OSU had just come off a 10-win season.

disagree, I love that in the SEC each week is a season in and of itself. I would not change this for the world

The tceh schedule this year was a gauntlet too. They play in the big 12 which now is nothing but a bunch of rejects. If A&M, tu, and OU/Mizzou were still in the b12, tceh would not be a 1 loss team.

Committee wants ll rank them top z4 again for playing absolutely no one

Tech should have been no higher than 7 and probably closer to 10 with the schedule they played this season

Probably so, but they also never got punched in the mouth because they play scrubs. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the other team puts up a fight

Why worry about someone else's schedule? Win your schedule . If your schedule sucks your'e most likely not ready for playoff football.

That could be Tech's downfall this year , not really prepared for the physical nature and speed of the game. I think they are really good especially on defense but not fire tested.

Duke just won the ACC, at least give the Big 12 that much, Im not raising my nose. Cincy, ASU, and UH are the only three teams that could be ranked next year at some point during the season.

Looks like BIg 12 handed them a layup to guarantee a CFP spot with no Utah or BYU on the schedule.

4 years after joining the Big 12 and abandoning TCU to the WAC they experienced their greatest period of success and were outshining us with 13 seasons of 10 or more wins (to our 2, now 3), with 2 BCS bowl appearances one of which being their Rose Bowl win, 1 New Years' Six bowl, and versus Georgia for the national championship in 2023.

So, yeah, Tech bolstered by NIL and playing inferior competition may just have a national title before we come close.

This is literally what tu was trying to do when they ran off Nebraska, Colorado, us and Mizzou but then they STILL couldn't capitalize like TTU has done.

They struggled with the Baylors, Kansas' and the like even wtih the powder puff schedule.

Now tu and OU are gone and props to ttu for siezing the moment.

ND and Tech are what is wrong with the sport. ND is just because they are entitled. Tech is just abusing the system… you can't allow a team to be in a horrible conference with SEC level roster and grant them so many more opportunities than the likes of Texas A&M, Vandy, etc.

To be fair, Texas got very strong once NIL was instituted. Had NIL started 10 years ago, they likely would have dominated like tech is doing this year.

13 ****ty P4 opponents in the Big Ten and 11 more in both the ACC and Big 12.

I could see the SEC and B1G kicking the NCAA aside to develop an NFL replica, but with a promotion / relegation system attached.

Premier teams want to keep their lucrative positions but then get eclipsed by a cakewalking outsider like Tceh. The 2 legitimate conferences have the power to create something much more stable and sustainable, if they choose.

What's real funny is they should be fresh for the playoffs after barely breaking a sweat through all that. Even if they face a tested opponent in the playoffs that team will probably be injured and bruised and more beatable by that point. Get ready for cup cake preseason for NCAA football.

Relegation won't happen. TV deals are based off an fairly guaranteed number of eyeballs. LSU, Florida, Auburn just had terrible years. ESPN is going to agree to pay big money if conferences relegate those schools and replace them with some big 12 dud for a season.

That said, they will create their own thing. Once the ACC falls and the premier pieces are picked clean, it's all over. The only reason the Big 12 is elevated over the ACC this year is because of tech's ability to spend enough to keep up. Tech either gets the invite as well, or are left behind to be king's of what is left.
