I really like "The 12th Man" song and I miss hearing it.
The band used to play The 12th Man during games sometimes also, but as many others said it was mainly the song that was played after losses at the post game yell practice.
The only silver lining to a loss was getting to hear and enthusiastically sing that song.
It would be great if it were played at a designated time each game with all our fans singing it!
I hope the band considers adding it back into their repertoire of songs played during games.

or You could hang out at Kyle after a loss, maybe I am wrong as I will admit to being frustrated at times and storming out to wind up in the middle of the rush to get home.

I am positive I have heard the FTAB play this (even at a rushed tempo) after a loss within the last 2-3 years

You and I are of the same vintage
Had the 3 cotton bowls During our years as a student losing one to FSU

I was from Houston , My mom is t-sip , her family were serious Baylor supporters, and my dad is from Lubbock growing up we regularly attended 3-4 road games
I have seen us run out of time everywhere except Fayetteville That was the one road trip dad never wanted to go on

My dad '58 was pretty hard core and we did not leave early. And I left off losing in Boulder and San Diego against the Cal Bears
My father was Class of '59 and was at the Rice game his fish Year where the Aggies scored 3 touchdowns in the last 3 minutes to win. And that's why you never leave until the end.

But I was at the Colorado game and the Cal game in the Franchione era and it was pretty painful to stay til the end.

Staying til the end used to be less inconvenient
Larger stadiums . People without tickets, traffic and general game day congestion has made staying until 12th man is played is much larger time commitment

I'm '98 and remember how weird it was hearing it played at Kyle in '95 after we lost to tu and the 31-game home winning streak was snapped. This going on while a brawl was erupting on the field.

Unfortunately we became more accustomed to hearing it after that season.

Always heard it after getting outscored 1971-75. One year they had the elderly widow of the Ag songwriter lead us through the song. Probably my age now - hah!

So it was probably in '74 when the composer of the song Mrs. Ford Munerlynn came and sat with us. You are correct, I remember it now, she directed us as we played it during a game we won. The only time, besides rehearsal, where I played the song and we had not lost. Her husband was an Aggie but she is the one who wrote the song.

Right, i have heard it played after a loss, but the FTAB plays it a lot faster than they used to and everybody is filing out. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's was a much bigger thing

The faster they play it, the faster they can leave and get changed into normal clothes.

1980, do you know why churches no longer sing from Church Hymnals?
They want to recruit the next generation. Do we want to recruit the next generation?
Personally I think we need to catch up with the times.

I'm class of '81 and I remember singing the Twelfth Man song at games. When did this stop?

Its the one that goes:

Texas Aggies down in Aggieland
We've got Aggie Spirit to a Man
Stand United, that's the Aggie theme
We're the Twelfth Man, on the team.

When we're down, the going's tough & tough,
We just grin and yell "we've got the stuff!'
To fight together for the Aggie dream
We're the Twelfth Man on fightin Aggie team

Dos anyone know? I miss that song.

Class of 86 and I've never heard this song...ever???

My bad, I should've specified "growing churches".
I appreciate the hymnals, not fond of the praise music, but failure to adapt will kill a church.
We have Senior Sunday, once a quarter, for us Old Folks. lol

Back to football... Changing the Hub Caps and White Wall Tires out would be okay!

Correct Gaius,

That means it requires two things. First, that the Aggies get outscored. And second, that you actually stay for the post-game yell practice.

There is no post game yell practice anymore.

Class of '81, and I remember it well. Of course, back then a lot of students stayed after a loss for yell practice. It's a great song; too bad we only play it after a loss.

I asked this Q a while back and was yold we dont do this. Do we even have post game yell after L?

It was actually very cathartic- a great start to cooing with a loss. It reminded us that we have something special no matter the score.

Here's something I posted a while back:
