Every year the collection of teams being judged has unique questions
This year there was ND on a 10 game win streak but loss their two best games by 4 points combined

There was the computers just loving the B1G

Alabama with a bad loss to FSU and a fluke loss to OU

Ags at 11-0 and because LSU UF were unexpectedly terrible what should have been good wins weren't ; people were still doubting us
Finally the ACC on ACC violence that led to a tie that put Duke in Championship and then winning it

Yes 2015. I believe it was our only win when Gameday was in town.

Can we move back to the Big 12, seriously? This schedule is brutally impossible to succeed, as opposed to having a weak ass schedule in another conference. With OU and tu's move into the SEC and then adding a ninth conference game, they've made it impossible for us to have success unless they go to a 24 team playoff.

It was Oct 2016 with Tenn 5-0 at Texas Aggies 5-0. The Aggies won 45-38 in double OT led by QB Trevor Knight, RB Trevion Williams, WRs Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds with JR Myles Garrett on defense. Williams outgained Alvin Kamara 217 to 127 and won the SEC rushing title that year. Both teams had over 500 yards of offense.

Yes, Georgia is only SEC team that has not been to Kyle. We have not played at Kentucky.

The CFP field after week 1 should include the 4 SEC CoChampions Ga, Bama, Ags, Miss, the top 3 Big 10 teams Ind, OSU, Ore and the Big 12 Champ Tech.. These 8 teams only lost 4 games to teams not in the final 8. FSU, tu and Arizona State, tu again. The only change to the field after those title games was elimination of 2 loss Virginia which would have bumped JMU if they beat Duke. This result also likely allowed Miami a spot as the only ACC team bumping ND.

My point is simple, set the field after game 12 is done for everyone and the conference title games can still be played but won't impact the playoffs.

With the 9 game SEC schedule it's possible that a 6-3 team may make it next year.

I agree with you. I am glad we are moving away from November SEC games because I hate how our last home game were cupcake games. We played Western Carolina in 2015, New Mexico in 2017, Prairie View A&M in 2021, Abilene Christian in 2023, and Samford in 2025 as our final home games.

Yes, we played Tennessee at Kyle Field on 10/8/2016 and hung on for a 45-38 2-OT home win. I was at that game, and it was our only when with ESPN GameDay on site, 1-7 at home and 0-3 away.

No, it was October 8, 2016, and I was at that game. Yes, it was only ESPN GameDay win home or away. We are 1-10 with ESPN GameDay on site, 1-7 at home and 0-3 away.

Home Games
11/11/2000: 35-31 loss to Oklahoma

11/4/2006: 17-16 loss to Oklahoma

9/8/2012: 20-17 loss to Florida

9/14/2013: 49-42 loss to Alabama

10/8/2016: 45-38 2-OT win over Tennessee

9/8/2018: 28-26 loss to Clemson

8/31/2024: 23-13 loss to Notre Dame

11/30/2024: 17-7 loss to Texas

Away Games
9/23/1995: 29-21 loss at Colorado

10/22/2016: 33-14 loss at Alabama

11/13/2021: 29-19 loss at Ole Miss

The CFP game against Miami will be our 12th appearance, and maybe it will be a charm.

Here's the list so far...

9/5 Missouri State
9/12 Arizona State
9/19 Kentucky
9/26 at LSU
10/3 Arkansas
10/10 at Mizzou
10/17 Citadel
10/24 at Alabama
10/31 Bye
11/7 at S Car
11/14 Tennessee
11/21 at Oklahoma
11/27 tu

Now, compare this to tceh and ND.

ND has been gifted a permanent playoff spot

Tech has been gifted a weak conference to dominate

But honestly we need to stop scheduling Power team OOC games because there's just no incentive to not take the easy win since that's all the committee cares about

Isn't this still required by the SEC? Until that mandate changes, it's a must.

Remember looking at this year's schedule and thinking it would be so rough? And then it wasn't?

No telling how tough 2026 is. Other than - it's an SEC schedule, so it'll be tough.

I understand the consternation over 9 SEC games, and I agree it is tough, but it's going to create legitimate 9-3 playoff teams.

9-3 doesn't deserve a NC shot imo
Then you're working off a soon to be antiquated paradigm. This sport is moving towards a 40-50 team professional format. Those teams might be allowed to play a game outside that super league once per season (or twice every couple of years), with 9 conference games. No one said the NYG didn't deserve their Super Bowl when they went 9-7 or 10-6.

What does getting 5 in matter if the committee is going to seed them so that a max of 2 can get to the semis?

Everyone seems to be complaining. Seems like a reasonable SEC schedule to me.

Does anyone realize that we play within the SEC and everyone gets a 9 game schedule against conference opponents? No one has an easy path and it is almost impossible in today's modern NIL to know what teams will compete and who wouldn't.

Look at this year. Preseason our schedule looked fairly brutal. But then we found out that S Carolina sucks. MSST was no good. Florida no good. Etc.

And folks....this is no longer a Nick Saban Alabama. DeBoer is just an above average coach but nothing special. And I don't believe Sark understands how to build a sustainable program.

I will take it and think it opens a great opportunity.

Most DEFINITELY a more difficult schedule next season than this season.

LSU will be better next year.

Bama will likely be about the same but at Tuscaloosa

Tennessee will likely be a tad better on defense

Missouri will have not their third string QB but either Pribula or their starter back

Arky will have Golesh and be a tougher out

ASU may be worse though with Sam Leavitt hitting the portal

strange quirk of fate that Miami Hurricanes also play South Carolina next year.

they should not be very good- especially since Lanorris Sellers has been rumored to hit the transfer portal

Beamer is on the hot seat- it could be like playing LSU this year in Kelly's final game!

Don't hate this overall but that final stretch is pretty tough

I think we need to start 7-0 if we want a realistic shot at making the playoffs

Only at lsu in those first 7 looks really tough

Go 7-0 then 3-2

We will be very lucky to be 10-2 with that schedule.

If we can't do that, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

But, compare that to ttu's 2026 schedule? We would be undefeated in the Big XII.

My prediction is next years game versus TU will be for a playoff spot. They will be 10-2 or 11-1 with that schedule as will we.
jeffdjohnson
How long do you want to ignore this user?
To make the playoffs you pretty much need to go 2-1 in your road games @LSU, @Missouri, @Alabama. That is tough.

That would give you a chance to go 3-1 in your last 4 games @SCAR, TENN, @OU, Texas and make the playoffs.

10-2 on that schedule gets you a vast majority of the time.

Geez......

So you don't think we could lose at bama?

How about at USCe who crushed us there last year and had a 30-3 lead on us at half this year?

At ou?

tu who has beaten us the last 2?

Even Tennessee is capable of beating us

So we go from 10/17 to 11/14 without a home game? What did we do to piss off Birmingham?

Also you need a correction to indicate we play @ Mizzou.

In the future I hope we are schedule OOC true cupcake P4 such as Oregon State or Purdue rather than competitive teams like ASU.

A lot of negative Nancies and Neds on here!

I think the schedule is….fine. By that I mean, is it as easy as this year? No. Is it as hard as the SEC West? No way. I think we got a serious break that LSU is at the beginning of the season with the hope that they don't quite have everything running there yet. I also think we're gonna need the first few weeks to get our act pulled together, which is why the soft start is nice.

When I originally saw our opponents, I thought we were pretty destined for 8-4 (no more than 9 wins) but now I can see a world where we could get to 10 wins if we capitalize on early momentum and win 3 of the gauntlet of the last 5 games.

And for all of you who think tu got it easy, remember they are now on the rotation of playing Bama and UGA in the same year, they have only 3 SEC home games, they have to play 8 straight conference games (back to 1 bye) they have to play at L$U at the END of the season, and they have to come to us. So if anything, I'm thinking that the grind of the schedule actually really finally gets to them next year and realistically end up with only 9 wins.

As for playoffs, no way Sankey is going to allow for current playoff format to stand where they discount the SEC's strength is schedule and assign a premium to the big tens strength of schedule. My suspicion is that they'll just go to 16 teams to allow for the three loss SEC teams to get in since I think there will be several of those from now on.

I know people have already answered, but yes and it was an exciting game. We scored 21 points in the first quarter, they scored 21 points in the 4th quarter (classic A&M).
Alvin Kamara had a coming-out party with 127 yards rushing, 161 yards receiving, and 3 total touchdowns.

A&M had 592 yards of offense and 3 turnovers. Tenn had 684 yards of offense and SEVEN turnovers - 5 fumbles and 2 picks
