He's a great recruiter and a great positions coach. Not a great DC. See Kliff Kingsbury. He's a brilliant OC, just not a great HC. Know your role and know your limitations. I like the hire.

Yeah...not sure that I would be directing my attention towards Arkansas defense. Their defense was ridiculously bad.
I'll be happy if he proves me wrong, but I'm not super elated with this hire at this moment.

I think Travis Williams will be a good LB coach. I understand that he led Arkansas' defense that was horrible, but I hope that had more to do with the lack of talent than his schemes.

If he knows how to teach LBs (and LBs only) how to play their position, who gives a crap if he's not a good DC? Worst case scenario is he rose above his potential, but he did such a great job at his position that the potential seemed to be there

Apparently also hired another defensive coach or maybe an analyst - Zach Sparber former Rutgers co-def coord. (also from JMU tree so assuming tied to hemphill)

Wonder who else is leaving w either Bateman or Klein.

Mentioned this before as it's been stated a few times. Would be a loss for us, but unsure if Jordan will take (may have already).

Side note, see Klein is keeping Buddy Wyatt at KSU (DL coach). A&M related as Buddy has coached DL here on a couple of different times.

Coaching circles are just a big friend group of getting more pay
