They are very talented, they are led by a tough coach, and in the wake of big games, they show up motivated to play. They will absolutely be the toughest opponent we face all year.

While Owens and Zuhn say they are not worried... okay, but in reality, its the biggest test.

Much like the other orange wearing school, Miami has both the arrogance and the talent to play with anyone. If they take the game lightly, show up un-prepared, they can lose to an SMU, but not because they got beat, but because they beat themselves in their preparation.

This game - CFP, 1st round, barely got it, something to prove, in a monster environment - They will 100% be ready for. They are the one team who may have advantages over us in key elements of the game.

Play solid, play hard, play mistake free football and we win... but there is no margin for error. Every turnover will be painful. Every missed block will be a tackle. Every special teams assignment missed will be a block.

If we play clean, we win 31-27. If we make mistakes, it could be their day. Either way, this is a 4th quarter football game, with leads likely changing throughout the game.

I've reviewed the film... they are absolutely a mega-talented team. Their issue is focus - when focused, as good as anyone. Lack of focus and people can capitalize, but I'd def call their talent ability elite (not just good).

If Miami is tougher than the team we just got stomped by, we're in trouble.

I don't know about that…

According to probability... based on all the most recent data

Miami wins 40 out of 100 games played against tu
Miami wins 47 out of 100 games played against A&M

on a neutral field

On Kyle Field, the probably drops to:

Miami wins 38 out of 100 games played against A&M @ Kyle

While he does have quite a knack for being wrong, I'm curious as to who you think we have played that is better?

Notre Dame is arguably better now, they weren't back in September.

Maybe. TBD

I think notre dame is a better team right now (I know, head to head, blah blah. 3 points, game one of a new qb on the road over 3 months ago) nd on the road is tougher at the very least.

Even Texas in Austin may be tougher than Miami at home. But I won't argue that one if someone wants to laugh. Home field matters, though.

I agree with you that Texas is on the road is a tougher game than Miami at home.

But in terms of overall talent? I might give a slight edge to Miami.

Better not lose to a team that couldn't beat SMU on the road. Gotta win to shut the haters up or at least most of them.

There's a lot of people that are thinking tu somehow exposed A&M. Making it mean something more than it was.

If the OL wasn't completely caught off guard by the crowd noise and Owen's didn't fall down constantly, the outcome of that game is likely very different. There wasn't anything tu did to exploit scheme or anything like that. They just had some players make great plays and A&M didn't play well.

The OL issues won't happen in playoffs. None of the environments are going to be as tough as tu.

tbis will be the toughest game of the season because it is the biggest game of the season. the pressure will be amplified by a 1000. i am very thankful we are at home. i believe that will be the difference.

This will undoubtedly be our toughest game of the year. Miami will show up prepared and play their best game of the season. And if we show up slow and rusty we'll find ourselves in a hole that we might not be able to climb out of.

Hopefully Elko has our boys cool, calm and collected ready to stand on business.

Miami has some talented players on their team and coming to A&M with confidence. When Miami played some of the top name teams this season such as ND, Florida, SMU, Louisville and FSU, they never scored more than 28 points. They averaged 24 points per game against those 5 teams. They did beat USF decisively but USF was just coming off their high point in upsetting Florida the week before.

For some reasons when other teams lose games like tu vs Florida, Miami vs SMU or Louisville, etc. they're just one off bad games.
But when we lose a game, it is 100% exactly who we are compared to that team and that is all we can ever expect to get out of our team.

It's really strange.

So Miami is guaranteed to show up and play their best game of the season, but the Ags may or may not. Got it.

It's a great matchup…

Their offensive line hasn't seen a defensive line like A&Ms

They do not have a mobile QB, we have a great pass rush

They have explosive players, we have explosive players

We have best 3rd down D, they have a QB with experience and accuracy.

Like EVERY SINGLE FOOTBALL GAME, it is all about who executes the best, makes minimal mistakes, and takes advantage of every single play.

I think road games in Austin and South Bend are tougher tasks. I'm not saying we win or lose, but home matters and both those teams are right up there in talent.

Cristobal wins a lot of irrelevant games and doesn't win the truly important ones. NCAA scheduling is about not scheduling too many of those so you can make the playoff…

While Miami never allowed more than 24 points in regulation all season long, our defense has struggled our last two SEC games: 23 offensive points (the other 7 came from a fumble return) allowed to South Carolina in the 1st half and 24 points to Texas in the 2nd half. Also, we lost the turnover margin by a combined 6-2 in those two games.

However, Miami has played 8 home games and just 4 true road games.

28-22 win at 5-7 (2-6 ACC) Florida State at Virginia Tech (3-9)
26-20 overtime loss at 8-4 (6-2 ACC) SMU
34-17 win at 3-9 (2-6 ACC) Virgina Tech
38-7 win at 8-4 (6-2 ACC) Pittsburgh

This will be Miami's toughest road game by a landslide. Miami hasn't played in front of a crowd of more than 70,000 fans this season. Also, we went undefeated at home for the first time since a 4-0 home record in 2020 and just the second time since 1999. This is the first time we finished a full, seven-game home schedule undefeated.

We must win the turnover margin and avoid special teams' miscues.

I agree with Jim 100%. They gave away two games this year with sloppy play and turnovers and realistically should have won both.

They brought in the right pieces in the portal and are very dangerous. Look at their last 4 games where they are just flat smoking people. Gonna be a dog fight and if we come out flat they will not let a South Carolina comeback happen.

Hopefully Scooby makes a difference on D and Moss does the same for Marcel on O.

So everything you've said here applies equally to Miami. WE are their toughest opponent of the year. THEY need to show up (in our stadium) and play mistake free. THEY need to block, kick and tackle and not have turnovers.

Kinda sounds like the team that plays the best will win. I hadn't thought of that.

Throw in the towel now, boys. Jturner says if we play our absolute best, mistake-free ball, we might barely win. Otherwise, if we're less than absolutely perfect, those uber talented and very frightening Canes will bury us under the hallowed Kyle Field grass.

It's over. We lost.
