Every game from here on out is the toughest. So what? Play your best and move on. Football DNA is very similar to our volleyball DNA. Survive and advance!

  • Managing Expectations: Some fans make negative predictions as a psychological defense mechanism if they expect a loss, the actual loss hurts less, and a win is a pleasant surprise.

By the immutable laws of College Football, namely the irrefutable transitive and home field advantage laws, Miami is less tough than the Notre Dame game, our one common opponent.

Proof -

Laws of Home field advantage:
Texas A&M vs ND @ ND = A&M +1
Neutral field A&M vs ND = (A&M +1) + 3.5 = A&M + 4.5

Miami vs ND @ Miami = Miami +3
Neutral field Miami vs ND = (Miami +3) - 3.5 = ND + 0.5

Therefore, crossing out ND via the Transitive property

Neutral Field A&M vs Miami = A&M + 5

And further, due to the law of home field advantage, Saturdays game is

Miami vs A&M @ A&M = ( A&M + 5) + 3.5 = A&M + 8.5

And there you have it, mathematical proof that not only is Miami not our toughest game, but we will win by a touchdown and either half of a field goal or 3/4's of a safety.

Book it.

If Miami is tougher than the team we just got stomped by, we're in trouble.

Or, and hear me out, we could also play better. I question if some actually watch sports and realize the same teams play at different levels all the time. The better team doesn't always win. A team can beat a team at one point in a season and lose to them a few weeks later. Happens all the time.

Not saying we will definitely play better , but Texas and South Carolina were our two worst halves of the year. South Carolina was also one of our best halves of the year and Texas first half was also pretty solid. We just can't play our worst half of the year and expect to survive.

Any other game we have played this year would give us a good chance to beat Texas or Miami.

Plus home / away. Some still don't realize how much it's worth. We beat Texas at Kyle 8-9 out of 10 times imho. We beat them 6-7 times on a neutral field. Probably 4-5 times at DKR.

There's a lot of people that are thinking tu somehow exposed A&M. Making it mean something more than it was.

If the OL wasn't completely caught off guard by the crowd noise and Owen's didn't fall down constantly, the outcome of that game is likely very different. There wasn't anything tu did to exploit scheme or anything like that. They just had some players make great plays and A&M didn't play well.

The OL issues won't happen in playoffs. None of the environments are going to be as tough as tu.

Marcel missed about 18 open receivers in that game, and I'm not exaggerating.

The OL had some issues, but won their battle overall if you watch the film. They gave him plenty of time and allowed wide receivers to get open all day. There was room in the running game like you said, too. Owens just fell 5-6 times and probably left 50+ yards and 3-4 first downs on those 5-6 runs on the table

Owens had his worst game of the year. I question if he had the right kind of kleets for that field

A lot of my BAS came back as a result of the tu game. We played uncharacteristically bad on defense. We payed a mobile QB and our secondary bit on the eye candy multiple times. This is a very different QB, not a runner, prone to making mistakes under pressure.

When I watched it again was the first time I was really irritated with the play calling. Run game was effective, yet we abandoned it. Stupid deep shots on 3rd and 1. Reed was not good. Idk if the injury or jitters. We were in it until late in the 4th. We made them look better than they really are.

We might get Scooby and Moss back. Had a couple weeks to get healthy and make corrections. We have the 12th man. I feel pretty confident we can beat them.

If Miami is a tougher opponent than the team that just blew us out, then we're going to have a real problem.

Make no mistake you are absolutely wrong.

Miami is a good team. Not great.

I've reviewed the film... they are absolutely a mega-talented team. Their issue is focus - when focused, as good as anyone. Lack of focus and people can capitalize, but I'd def call their talent ability elite (not just good).

I agree with Jim 100%. They gave away two games this year with sloppy play and turnovers and realistically should have won both.

They brought in the right pieces in the portal and are very dangerous. Look at their last 4 games where they are just flat smoking people. Gonna be a dog fight and if we come out flat they will not let a South Carolina comeback happen.

Hopefully Scooby makes a difference on D and Moss does the same for Marcel on O.
