At this point, it's clear we couldn't compete with real talent. We'd likely beat JMU or Tulane but everyone else would be tough. Would still rather be alive in hopes something goes our way but we probably didn't have what it takes to win it all.

We absolutey shut them down until halfway through the 4th quarter. We were one play away from tying the game.

Be frustrated, but to say we couldnt compete? That's nonsense.

I hope this serves as a lesson learned. We could be Oregon who will destroy JMU and then get Texas Tech who is probably about on par with Miami talent-wise. We could be Ole Miss who is wiping the floor with Tulane right now and then going to play Indiana next week. Seeding absolutely matters and the fact that we dropped to 7 instead of 5-6 changed our trajectory.

For everyone who said "it doesn't matter just prove the haters wrong and beat everyone!" we are not the 90's Dallas Cowboys and we are not going to just beat whoever is put in front of us.

From now on we need to do everything in our power to maximize our seed and get the most favorable draws possible.
I mean, I guess you are right, but did something show you today that this was a championship caliber team?

In fairness I don't think I made my initial point clear enough. Obviously we were not a championship caliber team this year. The name of the game is winning as many playoff games as possible to win over as many elite recruits as possible so that your team eventually IS championship material. I think it hurts us that Texas has made it to a semifinal and we have not. I think a realistic goal for this playoff would have been to make it to the semi final and use that to garner huge recruiting momentum for next year. And depending on the path we were given, that was possible.

Dies that really matter? Recruiting is now based on how much money you can give them.

Terrible take. Recruiting is more about relationships / location / program than money. Exhibit A, Landon Rink who was getting offered a boatload of money last December by Texas to flip and still stayed with the Aggies. Exhibit B, KC Concepcion who embodied everything it means to be an Aggie and was a great representative of this university, not just here to collect a paycheck.

If it was only about dollars then Elko would not have spent big money to get elite recruiters Elijah Robinson and Travis Williams on staff recently so clearly Elko disagrees with you.

Money has a role but people who stay stuff like this are just looking for a reason to be cynical.

It would have been nice to win a round, but we were going to get waxed by any of the top four seeds regardless, so I'm not sure that it makes that big of a difference.

Miami was more than beatable. Let's be honest. We **** the bed today. Offensively. In coaching decisions. On ST. In just about every phase of the game we laid an egg that would make an ostrich blush.

Totally agree. No disrespect to Miami but I was not impressed with them at all. Our offensive struggles are why we didn't advance. Poor OL play, inability to rush, QB's inability to hit the broadside side of a barn... I was sick to my stomach watching all of those piss poor passes where our receivers had NO CHANCE to make a play.
