Should have to throw it to the flat to pick up the 4 yards needed for the 1st down instead of up the field where the defender had a chance to affect the play.

100% disagree... defense was playing lights out at that point. It's the time to take some chances and steal a possession or two.

It was the right idea, but perhaps poorly designed with those players because of the wind.

I hope the new OC will be a lil more creative, in partnership with special teams.

FYI - I think the game of the future will be adding in more options - running backs throwing the ball more, more 4th down tries, more special teams creativity... and a higher degree of execution. The game will embrace innovation... and whichever coach embraces it more will be that much more successful.

Game of the future? Pulaski Academy says hello, been doing it for a decade or so now.

Pulaski Academy's football philosophy under former head coach Kevin Kelley is built around aggressive, analyticsdriven decisionmaking: almost never punting, frequent onside kicks, and treating all four downs as offensive downs to maximize possessions and scoring chances. The underlying belief is that the math favors keeping the ball, creating extra possessions, and applying constant psychological pressure on

I swear I said "A&M is going to fake punt" right before they did. It was just too obvious a time to do it.

I liked it. Low percentage play. Probably had a better chance if it wasn't a downfield throw.

This times 10000

The problem wasn't the fake punt. It was having the punter try to throw a bomb when there was miles of empty space at the line to gain

What's weird is that if the wind was affecting your starting qb throwing down the field, what made the coaches think that the punter would be able to have his pass not affected when throwing down field?

I didn't understand why the punter threw a longer pass on 4th down than our QB did on any down in the quarter other than 3 passes -- 2 of which were caught for 1st downs.

It was pretty clear they were ready for the fake. Either that, or it developed so slowly and they got ready. Miami's defensive speed was way better than ours (on defense for comparison's sakes, but also where it actually affected us, on offense). Once again, we have an Aggie coach that doesn't put a premium on speed like Alabama and LSU have for decades. We're better than we were under Jimbo, and way better than under previous coaches, but not elite SEC. And that's where we need to be.

Huh, what? Most of everyone is up on the line on punt but not everyone is going after the punter.

Versus 5-7 db's dropping on regular D with two monster 1st round DE's coming at you. So on fake punts you can hit a window at times in from of punt returner. The guys on D are also running back with a man which is harder to cover when not expected vs 6-7 guys sitting back in a zone.

Have some of you ever actually coached or played anywhere, like ever?

So confused by this dumb statement just to bash our QB own ho played his ass off this year but still needs work.
