Elko appears to be an upgrade; however, he has made some big mistakes that have limited success. Some of which are:

1 hired Klein as OC

2 hired Bateman as DC

3 refused to hire a dedicated special teams coach

4 neglected to ensure we have a dependable FG kicker
( see 3 ).

1 and 2 can possibly be chalked up to short time during his job change. But now he promoted wr coach and a buddy. Those better work out or he won't be here more than a couple more years.

3 is inexcusable. ST is so important it needs a coach dedicated to just ST. If Elko can't see that, he isn't as smart as I thought he was.

4 is related to 3. But trotting out a line drive kicker after he had a low kick blocked previously was brain dead. His answer in the presser was telling. We should have easily had a 3-0 lead early in the Miami game.

Going on 87 years in the wilderness now. Throw in the news about Marcel on X, and Elko needs to do some real explaining. As usual we ejacted to soon on his big payday. Most of the highly paid college head football coaches are not really better than a top HS coach. They all get rich while they do stupid.

Oh, and how about do what you preached, FINISH!

Didn't go into details because I haven't seen confirmation.

But throw that out, and the rest of my post is plenty reason to doubt our future under Elko. I hope he corrects his mistakes. We all make some. He obviously thinks Wiggins and Hemphill are the answers. He damn sure better be right. And get a top ST coach. ST is costing us. Hell, we had two punts blocked.

ETA, Klein engineered 2 freaking touchdowns over our last two real games. Zero td against Miami. ZERO touchdowns on Kyle Field. Elko hired Klein and let him stay when he should have showed him the door. Major F UPS.

People are allowed to have fun. Not all QBs need to be celibate like Tim Tebow. Yea Reed's issues are not party related. It's a non issue. I'm concerned about his terrible decision making in the red zone and turnover factory the last 3 games.

His run defense only works when he has an A gap defender that demands a double team and an Antonio Johnson (big, fast, rangy) type player @ nickel.

I was taking a day dream through time and perusing defenses that stood the test of time (their time)

A. Hard nose running games
B Spread offenses

I was thinking about this very thing. We need a gap clogger in the middle. We send our LBs on run blitzes up the A gap way too much, especially when we're running man on the backend and we get beat like a drum on those plays. We have no one in the middle of the field and expect the safety who is 15 yards down the field to come up and make the play. The gap assignments and lack of zone defense have puzzled me all year.

These kids need time off. Nothing wrong with them going out a few days before the game.

One of my buddies sons played for A&M and his schedule was literally filled from 5:30AM to 9:00-9:30PM. He was working out, in class, watching film, studying, or with a tutor. Granted, this was before NIL but he didn't have much of a college life. Honestly, I'm not sure I would want my son to do that and if he did I would have wanted him to stay an extra year and be a normal college kid for a while.

As long as it is not the night before the game, give them a little slack and let them enjoy themselves and be kids.

I agree with 3 & 4 but 1 & 2 are debatable… CK had a lot of signs to be a good play caller and Bateman can recruit.

Yes, both didn't workout, which sucks but they got us in a good position moving forward.

No that's just klien. Same thing last year, same thing when he was at kstate.

Big12 offensive play calling that is dependent upon busted plays for chunk yardage. Big reason why we were abysmal all season in the red zone. Ranked 88th in the nation; failing to get any points almost 20% of the time.

The fact that we could have had a 6-3 lead the majority of the game had we kept Bond for FG's inside the 40 yd range and punted or gone for anything beyond the 40 yd FG ranges is one thing that baffles me.

If we somehow go up 13-3 that game is over.

Anyway. We did not and we are going to watch Miami play next week. Hope OSU runs their mouth and gives Miami some extra motivation as well.

Dont care. They're employees now. No slack given. If they want a college experience like the majority, they have to stop being an employee. Players have to make up their minds, accept the money for what they are hired to do or be a student. Players want money and no responsibility....so do i.

Really? Bond was terrible. He was the worst SEC PK. However, Zirkel has a fatal flaw. Apparently, he has no idea the proper trajectory a kick needs to take to clear the line and defensive players trying to block the kick.

That said Bond easily makes the first kick and who knows how that changes the game.

I know someone that was at that party and it's definitely not a good look. Poor player discipline and decision making on and off the field is why A&M will never get anywhere. Running your mouth and not being locked in to the task at hand is a recipe for failure. These players are getting paid way too much money…the administration needs to be ruthless and show someone the door.

Yes. He seemed to struggle if the set up plays were not successful. Could not find ways to adjust to defenses that were successfully stopping his O. Did not appear to have quicker developing pass plays to help keep Reed on schedule when pur Oline was not able to protect well.

Yeah, Klein is so bad he immediately got snapped up as a HEAD catch at K State with several other major schools hot sfter him.And other assistants were immediately hired because they were in large demand. The idiocy on this board is off the charts. These coaches were in high demand because of their success.
