Why wouldn't your sole goal be for them to get highly recruited by a school with bags of money? Talking about generational wealth for the kid and his kids if they were to have any.

Here I am making 100K almost 40 and 18 year old kids are signing million dollar contracts. Good for them.

It will be interesting to see how the ones who peak at 19 will do. I knew a few people who experienced great success at 18, first round mlb draftpicks. They are not doing well at all. Money isnt everything is all Im saying

Mid-talented? You mean the guys on the bench or playing for UNT? They're getting 50-100k. What are we talking about, here?

If my kids had been "mid-talented" Hs football players I'd have encouraged them to quit football, unless they were passionate about the game.

Not even this. Only around 3% of HS players will play D1 (this would include guys on bench at UNT)

Big NIL money is about as likely as your kid winning the lottery. A fraction of a fraction of a percent will be good enough to attain. The rest will just lose lots of money by parents investing thinking their kid will get a big payday

It takes place at a Christmas party on Christmas Eve, has obvious Christmas decorations in it along with Christmas music (Christmas in Hollis, Let It Snow), and John McClane even dresses up one of terrorists in a Santa hat with "now I have a machine gun ho ho ho" he writes on his shirt.

About the only non-Christmas situational thing was that it was released mid-summer of 1988.

Mid talented kids aren't making that kind of money

Most kids aren't good enough to be major contributors on their 5A team

Even the kids that look like typical 17 year olds are crazy fast and amazing athletes

Yeah, I know, I was just trying to give OP a shred of doubt. was it "mid-talented" for SEC? HS? Hell, I was a 2nd team all district 5A DB and was a very "mid" player (ie still got smoked by guys that went to OU, Mizz, UCLA, SMU, UNT) , and my highest end offers were a couple of the bottom dwelling Patriot Leaguers and effectively walk-on status at the academies. But generally, my "offers" were the likes of Trinity, Harding, etc of the D 2s and 3s.

If OP is talking about"mid" SEC prospect, go get free school, expenses, and $35k/yr from SDSU, Coastal Carolina, etc. have a good time, and save your body from getting mauled as a practice dummy for four years, by the Reuben Bain's of the world.

Million dollar contracts are not "generational wealth" if I were a parent of a five star athlete I'd start with that discussion.

Mid-talented? He ain't getting much in the way of NIL, if anything. I'd tell him to forget football and take up volleyball. I doubt there is much money there either, but he might win a trophy.

My nephew is the starting QB for a very large urban 6A high school that won their district this year. He is an academic all state. Not sure of OP's criteria for 'mid-talented' but I would say my nephew is at least that. He is going to play at Southwestern for a partial scholarship and $0 in NIL.

The best of the best HS players get a chance to play big time college ball. Then the best of the best of college players make good NIL money. He'll A&M is on the top NIL spenders and not even half of the players on our team make millions, much less life changing money.

My kids are at the age to be considering these kinds of things and the thought of pushing them so they can make NIL money kind of makes me sick. I'd rather they go to school where they want and enjoy college, no sports, and I have to pay for it rather than push them into NIL sports.

I know people who spend thousands each year for soccer, volleyball, etc, and some of their kids are pretty good. Still, a small percentage will make it on a college team at all, and far fewer will make it at a major D1. Invest in the kid, their growth, and their enjoyment, but realize that your return will likely not be in the form of piles of cash.

I know other people, such as my wife, who had scholarship offers to play in college, but turn it down because they don't want that to dictate where they go, or to consume their lives. My wife had an offer to play softball at Baylor, where her dad played baseball, and didn't want to go there. Lucky for me!

The number of kids making life changing money at the top level of college ball is still way less than 1% of high school football players. If you want to invest thousands of dollars in training and risk head injuries for your kid, be my guest… you'll end up upside down and just hope they can leave high school healthy and with some good teamwork/leadership/work ethic traits (that they could have also learned in other sports)

in other words, you just hope for them to be a good person and have a good meaningful life?

If he has the size and quickness to play on defensive line he can be mid level and get a million dollar nil. Not so much at other positions being mid but they struggle to find big athletes on the defensive line add to that they rotate 2-3 deep at that position. Being a little sarcastic but not much seen him play a couple of years and wouldn't know he was a d1 player if it wasn't for his size he did nothing to impact the game and had to come out after a couple plays constantly.
