This. I'm thinking OP sentiment is more common with new army, not the olds.
This manner of thread has been posted every year on this site, going on 25+ years.

Because we have never won a game that truly matttered!!!!

You could argue 85 texas, but other than that we are O for any game that mattered!

75 Arkansas, 4 or 5 cotton bowls…. OU cotton bowl was a nice win, but we had lost to LSU…

2 years in a row to Texas, win and go to SEC championship, lose to Miami.

We're what 3 and 11 on Gameday…

We are who we are until we win.

So here is a serious answer...

Our alumni run around acting like we matter in college football when we are irrelevant in college football. The last time we won anything was almost 100 years ago. We have been in the SEC for 13 years and haven't even made a championship game. We are irrelevant but we strut around like we win every year.

Our alumni run around acting like we are leaders in global business when our most successful business alumni runs a Mexican bread company. We don't run the boardroom and c suite, we are known for producing cubical sitting engineers

Our alumni run around like we make waves in entertainment when our most famous entertainment alumni was kinda well known for his mustache 50 years ago. Heck, I can't even remember that guys name right now. Next up after him would be who exactly... Lyle Lovett? A country guy who is the epitome of d list and once wrote a song about a pony on a boat.

Our alumni act like our campus is god's heaven on earth when it is in fact 110 degrees every day, overrun by bugs, covered with soviet bloc architecture, and in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe people wouldn't hate A&M if we weren't so dang obnoxious all the time.

Just because our football program is spare does not mean that the University is disrespected; out in the real world an A&M degree is still highly regarded even though the school is slowly turning into a diploma mill.

In the days before Instagram and tik-tok any descriptions of our culture and traditions were through maroon colored filters. And the only really stupid and embarrassing thing that got out was saber guy vs the SMU cheerleaders.

To people that don't know the traditions and culture, instantaneous tik-tok videos of yell leaders, midnight yell and the corps just appear as wierd to the rest of the nation. All those videos become ammunition for our sports competitors to use against us. It is what it is.

This is the real answer. We have a top tier gameday environment, no one can argue that. And on the surface we have everything that people say they love about college football.
But if you dont grow up as an Aggie it is also all very weird looking and easy to make fun of.

To your point (and to the OP's original question), I believe the reason so many choose to troll on Texags or rip on Ags on all media forms has to do with a group of fans who perennially sunshine pump despite all odds and historical data. The larger football world (in addition to these trolls) see a group unable to handle criticism, valid or not, and the allure of making fun of such a sensitive and insecure group is too alluring to pass up.
There is no program or college culture in America that gets made fun of more. This is a fact.
The reasoning is not just because the hokey traditions are so on display, rather because you have a group that takes jokes or ridicule so seriously combined with a complete lack of self awareness. It's a deadly combo and unfortunately is the gift that keeps giving to trolls and haters alike for time eternal.
It is what it is. This isn't a new thing, just exacerbated by midnight yell footage and the football gods pulling the football out from under the program every year like Lucy with Charlie Brown.

The self seriousness is the greatest flaw. No other large school alum base mythologizes itself like Aggies.

It's only the Aggie fans themselves that think "all" the outsiders hate us. It stems from this "woe is me" mentality that's a byproduct of not having won on the major sports playing fields.

Truth be told, majority of outsiders don't really think about us. And why would they?
As soon as we get close to breaking thru, we'll have a fart and fall over moment on national television.

Outside of a giggle and a shoulder shrug, they don't really think of us. Certainly nowhere near the % that most Aggie fans think they do.

Granted, we stew over it a ton ourselves…..but outside of ourselves, we're not occupying much of outsider people's head space at all.

Right. Maybe it's better to explain it as general ridicule when the program/ cult does come up outside of BCS, but rarely any actual real vitriol. That's almost worse in a way. Kind of a laughed at after thought.

I live around many sips and Aggies. We all get along and sometimes tease each other. This a retirement community. We've all learned that it's all about your accomplishments and what you've done to make the world a better place. That is far more important than childish hate speech and exhibitions of poor taste. There is far more to life.

People mostly love Aggies, but they don't respect our football team. And we haven't really won anything big so I sort of understand it, but the media bias is kind of gross at times. But let them hate.

Looking forward to next year.

Right? It's posts like that why people roll their eyes and think Aggies are odd.

An A&M education is highly respected in the business, engineering, and veterinary worlds among others.

A&M as a football program isn't hated either. It's more like apathy and a "fool me once" type attitude. That includes Aggies too!

You outed yourself a while ago when you were having a conversation with one of your alters and forgot to log out.

It was . . . OTredux. That was you, wasn't it?

You still playing that game?

Is the pants, now trousers, guy you as well?

Nothing more pathetic than that guy being so exasperated by a school and its fan base, of which he has no affiliation, that they spend their days, Christmas Day no less, penning histrionic diatribes.

CEO of Fubo. Aggie.
Darren Woods, CEO of ExxonMobile...Aggie
Toby Rice, CEO of EQT...Aggie
Noel Wallace, CEO of Palmolive...Aggie
Greg Garland, former president of the Board at Phillips 66....Aggie

Thats just a handful off the top of my head. To say Aggies are not involved at the highest levels of corporate America is beyond stupid.

From my personal experiences, the loudest most obnoxious Aggie haters don't even have a college degree. They spent a couple years in Juco and gave up. Then, jumped on the bandwagon of rooting for tu, LSU or Bama and hating everyone else.

On the other hand, I've interacted with so many fans of opposing SEC teams at Kyle field and they are blown away and offer nothing but an enormous amount of praise for our kind fanbase and incredible Gameday experience. Most of the hate doesn't deserve even a second of your time.

Basically its our confidence and individuality. They can't stand that we aren't like everyone else and we don't really care to be. They try to scare us into conforming (and you see signs of it working with some) but they can't stand that we are confident enough in ourselves to be different. Its these traits that make us desirable in the workforce but it also angers a bunch of minions.

Most definitely a sip troll, because we don't use the words alumni and who gives a Flying F about making waves in entertainment?! Nobody is impressed that Matthew McconnaGay is prancing around your sidelines. Nobody. It's redundantly idiotic! There are literally thousands of Aggies who are at the top of their field in global business! So you must work in a cubicle and hate life? Boo hoo. Ironic you kept using the word irrelevant, yet here you are on our football forum proving quite the opposite. Only relevant teams have haters taking the time to unsuccessfully troll their football board.
