Please no! Sumlin was the epitome of all hat no catttle - all talk no show. Talk about a fraud - he was at the top of the list and terrible for A&M. How soon some people forget!

Fun fact, when Sumlin was appointed OC by RC Slocum after game 3 of the 2002 season, replacing Dina Babers, the offense had more total point and yards in 9 games than in the previous 15 games (2001-2002) under Babers.

Kliff Kingsbury was the brains. He called plays from the sidelines. Where he actually could get a feel for the game. Didn't need a Rolodex in the booth. Sumlin needed AA as his mentor. Retirement is his friend. 1st Half Iron Mike would be a better play caller than sumlin.

this thread needs some clean up...

the 2016 offense averaged 34.8 points per game

in SEC play it averaged 31.5 points per game

the offense / Mazzone was not the problem in 2016

He coached them for a year or two when they were in the USFL too, then when they merged with the XFL, they kept the XFL team/coach who really sucked. Good for him sticking around the game.

Never said he was God's gift to football at any level.
I said he's still having offensive success in the NFL.
