Reed isn't a terrible QB. Klein just called his number way too often and asked him to do way too much. We didn't "fail to establish the run". Klein failed to reign in his desire for chunk plays and defenses knew it

That was the exact gameplan early in the Miami game. Bubble screens to either side of the field.

He couldn't hit them. Needed his WRs to do a gymnastics routine to bail him out.

Elko needs to find someone better, whether that's a QB on campus already or one from the transfer portal. Great programs aren't loyal to mediocrity.

Miami was susceptible to WR screens all year. The problem was we had a 40mph crosswind and we stuck with that same game plan.

I can't stomach blaming poor QB performance on the wind. Smacks of the spring game in 2022 where we all inhaled this same copium. Sometimes the QB has to rise up and overcome. Reed doesn't.

And it's not like we've observed crippling inaccuracy only in windy games (i.e. Miami). He's shown us this pattern for about 22 games now.

Case in point: The Samford game wasn't windy at all, but that didn't stop Marcel from throwing a ball right to their LB. His poor performance is because he can't read defenses confidently and he makes rushed, crappy throws

He did not grow as a qb this year, he regressed terribly.

Face it, he only won at ND because of a bad throw and a miraculous catch by the TE.

He spent more time doing interviews than working on his game and it showed at TU and against Miami where he was ****ing horrible. If we had a real backup they should have been out there in both games.

100%. He needs to use his legs more. That's what keeps DCs up at night. We played into their hands with him stuck in a pocket. I don't recall us rolling him out once to stress the defense.

Hopefully Wiggins recognizes his feet are his biggest asset and configures the offense to exploit that fact.

Klein seemed to shy away from running Reed ever since the '24 LSU game. I never understood it.

I think he needs to improve decision making in the red zone and accuracy on the shorter routes when the deep shots are taken away. He improved on the deep stuff this year.

tu and Miami games, their D did a good job of keeping everything in front and trying to make us drive. I think the lack of commitment to run against tu and then 6 quarters of o-line crapping themselves hurt. I think it was obvious the game plan against Miami was to get ball out quick and try and get Mario and KC ball in space but accuracy was not there.

I'm not sure the OL really crapped the bed. Klein just refused to run the ball and get them in rhythm. Sure, some time you come out with 10+ yard runs, but most times you have to wear the defense down, and we never attempted to do that. I know Miami had 7 sacks but almost all of them were Reed running into the ass end of his OL and getting tackled while that slow developing drag route finally came open.

This has been what I go with as well. I think you can develop more pocket presence, and can likely learn to read defenses better..or it can be taught I guess. I still think some of that is just something a player has or doesnt have.

Hire Jarrod Johnson away from the Texans. Make him co-OC to sweeten the pie. With Johnson coaching him, Reed would kill it here.
