There's no excuse for giving Ol Miss a higher seed than us

Ole Miss had two "quality wins" against playoff teams in Oklahoma and Tulane (though I would put an asterisk next to Tulane as a playoff team). Our only quality win was Notre Dame.

Ole Miss lost to Georgia. We lost to Texas. Their loss is better.

Otherwise, both teams played and beat the losers of the SEC.

That doesn't seem like "no excuse." They were two teams with similar resumes and the same record, but Ole Miss got the nod due to better quality wins and a better loss.

It wasn't a conspiracy.

I feel good about this season because Elko didn't lose to bad teams. A lot of good teams and coaches didn't achieve that. This year was a positive, but don't make it out to be more than it was.

SOR: A&M 4, UM 6
SOS: A&M 17, UM 41
FPI: A&M 10, UM 12

Our win over Missouri is better than their win over Tulane.

If the scenarios were reversed and they lost later in the year, we lost earlier in the year, but had our coaching staff raided, we would plummet down the rankings and the reasoning would be because our staff got poached.

Miami was the last at large team allowed to be in the playoffs. Getting to the semifinals with the last team to make it in should tell us maybe add a few more teams to the mix or just take the top 12 with no automatic qualifiers. I think Texas and ND had potential to get some upsets if they were included.

Typical reaction- woulda, coulda, shoulda.
We weren't good enough. That's the bottom line.

So, you legitimately think if the situation was reversed and we lost our head coach, that we would have stayed higher than Ole Miss? edit: ZK beat me to it.

Yes, and I don't think losing your head coach should have anything to do with it, but I do know the playoff committee kept an undefeated Florida State out of the playoffs because they lost their QB a few years ago.

Again, it's always someone else's fault we sh** the bed. It doesn't matter who we played or what we were ranked or what they were ranked. We have the athletes to beat anyone of the 11 others in the bracket. We just flat out didn't get it done. Turning the ball over 3 times by QB will never beat anyone. Our D played the game of their lives but offense(as usual) could NOT score 1 TD in 4 qtr of play. Until we get a OC who can run play action, boot leg, under center and motions AND get a QB who doesn't fold under pressure we're gonna be at the cusp of playoff contention and

TRUTH!!

I must humbly disagree with you. they would've dropped us like we covered in baby oil. And it was more than just the head coach wasn't it?

I agree, it shouldn't. We should have been higher than them because our SOS, SOR, and a number of other ratings were better and they told us SOS and SOR were going to factor in more heavily this year.

I was just saying if the roles were reversed, they would 100000% be dinging us for losing our coaching staff.

We got what we earned. Should've beat Texas. We didn't and so we paid the price.

Seriously, the cigars didn't want Mia in the finals. They wanted us to take care of business at Kyle, Ohio will be their plan B.

A city school winning against the premier programs in the land….oh the shame,

Would you say the same thing if A&M lost to Arizona St? Serious question

Meh they got a fluke win at home against us. Good for them, but we beat our powderpuff teams. They lost to theirs.

Next year just gets harder for them.

Remember a little over a month ago when you predicted the Ags to beat the sips by three touchdowns?

We should have played Bama which we could have beaten. I can't believe Bama didn't drop a spot after being blown out by UGA in the SEC Championship. I realize the Committee doesn't want to punish conference championship participants, but teams should at least be able to compete, not look inept, and not get blown like Bama did in the conference championship game.

I actually thought Bama could drop completely out of the playoffs after the SEC Championship game, but nope, they unbelievably stayed at #9.

Also, there should not have been two G5 teams in the playoffs. Miami should have been #9, Bama #10, Notre Dame #11 (you could flip Bama and ND) and then Tulane or Texas at #12. They need to have play-ins like college basketball for the last two spots.

losing to tu was the colossal fu and then some...almost a fireable offense in my book. it caused all the issues and even get to hear Sark proclaim how he kicked OU, A&M and UM 'asses'.

If Elko doesn't put that on the board for whoever he pays to play next year, then he needs to take a pay cut.

https://www.on3.com/news/steve-sarkisian-takes-victory-lap-on-texas-am-ou-michigan-after-bowl-win-it-felt-good-kicking-their-ass/

Quote:

"Man, it sure felt good kicking OU's ass in Dallas and (it) felt good kicking (Texas) A&M's ass at DKR, and it sure felt good tonight kicking Michigan's ass," Sarkisian said. "Appreciate Longhorn Nation, man. Hook 'em Horns, baby."

Be able to run the ball or throw a forward pass and we win against Miami.

We shat the bed in 2/3 aspects (offense and special teams) in that game.

No more moral victories - move on.

Marcel lost our game. End of story.

9 out of 10 games we do beat the sips. Maybe not by three touchdowns but it wouldn't be close.

We had the hardest path, but played so poorly that I really don't care. We could have and should have won that game.
