Let's face it, Reed is looking eerily similar to Kellen Mond when compared against each other. Their #s are very similar with both sharing time as starter their first season vs Starkel (Mond) & Weigman (Reed) respectively. The only difference is in sacks, but primarily because Mond didn't have a O-line until 2020 and Jimbo wanted Mond to throw and not use his feet to escape the pocket despite his ability to stress defenses with his legs. Both Mond & Reed generally fall under the classification of "dual threat" QBs.

If the comparison is applicable - Reed may be hitting his ceiling as Mond never really progressed over his 3 years as full time starter. Mond didn't have many playmakers around him until late in his career, so hopefully we can keep the roster stocked with playmakers to make up for Reed maxing out his personal talent ceiling.

In all years both Mond & Reed were either #2 or #3 in rushing yards on team.

Reed still has time to prove this otherwise however.

As I said Mond was robbed. We should have been in the playoffs in 2020 even with it being only 4. We may have been the 2nd best team in the nation that year.

Mond had a great Oline in '20, and made his numbers so good. We also had a 1,000 yd back in '20.

It all starts up front with a great Offensive line. My wish is that we recruit/invest in Oline through the Portal this cycle.

He was also drafted into the NFL.

Mond in the offense we've been running under Klein would have been a monster. The offense that required a Cheesecake Factory menu was too clunky and complicated. If Reed becomes Mond 2.0 we go far in the playoffs. If we had Senior Mond as QB we'd be in the semifinal round of the playoffs one way or another.

Mond would have taken 6 sacks a game with his deer in headlights demeanor in Klein's offense and the zoo would be whining non stop about how the offensive line is bad. Just like when Mond was playing.

Reed is better than Mond ever was . He's far from perfect but still better now than Mond was as a senior.

Mond took better care of the ball and was probably more accurate on the short pass. Reed has much better feet but we had an OC who refused to exploit his best asset.

Is Julian Sayin Mond 2.0 also? Cry less. We lost to a dominant defense. That's it.

Mond was an average, arguably below average SEC quarterback for three seasons (2017-2019).

Mond was an ELITE game manager during a GREAT 2020 season. He had a great O-Line, running game, and he made very few mistakes. I give him credit, even after all the cringe Sul Ross BS he pulled during the offseason prior.

Bad take, and the statistics you posted prove me right. Mond's completion percentage and TD/Int ratio improved significantly every season. How can you say that he didn't progress as a starter?

I hope Reed progresses the way Mond did - he's got two more years of growth, and with the right talent around him he could be really great when it's all said and done.

Was that the year we beat a UNC squad bereft of many of their best players? Came from behind if I remember correctly (27 to 20 in the 4th qtr). Also, barely beat a pedestrian Vandy at Kyle if I remember that correctly. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the wins but I'm a little tired of all of the revisionist history going on around here lately. I do think we deserved to be in the CFP that year but due to our performance against UNC, which we did end up winning by a decent margin, I'm not so sure we would have won a playoff game. Our defense really stepped it up in the 4th quarter.

Is Reed going to lead a faux protest and stare down Former Students too?

Not only that but Mond had that mind blowing epic 7OT win over LSU and eventual Heisman Joe burrow.

Burrow never lost a college game after that A&M loss to Mond...pretty great stuff

Mond was a better player (so far), but Reed is is a much better person and Aggie.

idk I can recall more clutch, or should have been clutch if the refs had eyes, moments from Mond and more unclutch moments from Reed.

Look at Mond's stats - his completion % was marginally better over time never surpassing 63% and his TD/INT ratio really did not improve either with exception of his last year ('20).

Monde was always a under performer. Reed has earned his right to be doubted, just as Monde did. That is probably the closest comparison one can get away with.

Both are serviceable. Both had accuracy issues, Mond was probably a little more accurate than Reed. Mond protected the ball better than Reed.

Reed's story is still being written. Monds story has an annoying tendency to be rewritten by Mond fanboys.
