Anyone who thinks the current running back situation is good is on that maroon drank.
Morrow has potential to be a mid tier SEC starting back, but needs a ton of work in the recognition game. He could certainly get there, but even if he does his current stature makes him a 15 touches guy. I love the guy's running instinct. Before the season started, I said he was the clear offensive freshman to watch, but I wouldn't trust what I saw from this season to translate into reliable play, yet.
Owens is a below average starter. Significantly. Yall can trot the ypc bull**** out all you want, but that average was racked up on a litany of wide ass open 25-35 yard runs against bad teams, interspersed with handfuls of ineffectual 2 yard runs. During those 2 yard runs, Owens often crumpled at first contact, tripped over himself, or MISSED EVERY CUTBACK EVER (this is hyperbole, maroon drank addicts). He also seems constitutionally incapable of stringing together two moves on a play. He's an above average athlete with well below average instincts. Owens should be a 3rd down back and occasionally spell the starter and primary backup. He's a 3-5 touch and 1-3 tackles guy per game running back/special teamer, on a good team. I confidently assert, not one single team schemed for Owens.
KJ Edwards is the MF'ing truth. IMO, he's the #1, 1a running back in the country, with Savion Hiter. I have similar feelings towards him as I did when A&M was close to landing Jahmyr Gibbs, ie "that's THE guy". That said, you can't rely on a freshman rb, particularly a small one, to come in and be much more than an 8-12 touches guy per per game guy, and you certainly can't expect him to pick up pass pro. Edwards is Achane crossed with Ainias, and barring injury and idiocy is a future 1st to 3rd round draft pick. But that's too much to put on a freshman.
