Is it flagging? Saw empty seats at the Cotton Bowl last night and there are empty seats at the Orange Bowl this morning.

Not a great indicator for college football in the future. Not to mention copious available seats at every bowl game I've watched. This didn't use to happen. Is it prices? Scalping or something else?

They need to play the second round at home of the higher seed as well.

Asking fans to travel to up to 3 random bowl games is just a non starter for the rest of us who don't have more money than god.

There have always been copious amounts of empty seats at most of the bowls.

From what I gather when talking to fans of other programs around the country. The interest level is dropping. NIL has not been good to the fans

Agree.

These games are tons of fun and add a ton of excitement to the program, but it's a lot to ask of most fans to pour money into these games.

For schools that are always in the hunt, you also have to deal with fans that are saving money for the next round (which, as tOSU found out, may not happen).

I think it would be cool to have them at home stadiums until the final 4.

Especially making Oregon/tech travel to damn Florida and Indiana/Bama to travel to California. Both on opposite ends of the states for both fanbases.

If they would have seeded us 5th and made the quarterfinal the Cotton Bowl, could have had a huge turnout.

Not true about 25 years ago but certainly the last 10?or so but it is getting embarrassingly worse at the minor bowls. The Aggies have filled the Independence Bowl 3x including one in a monumental snow storm and it wasn't because other teams don't travel.

It's pro football now, NIL and transfers have ruined it. Opting out of games too. 17 and 18 year old high schoolers demanding and getting millions for never playing a down sits wrong with people. Then it's the highest bidder gets my talents each year after that. Too much roster turnover these days and you can't get users to a player sticking around. Conference realignment has screwed things up too. It's year to year football now and it sucks.

I love the Ags and college football is my favorite over the nfl for the traditions, rivalries, and pageantry but my attitude is changing. I don't watch near the amount of games I used to.

I'll go yell at a cloud.

this would be a great take and relevant on a thread titled "Waning fan interest in most bowls" or "Are college football bowls dying?"

However this thread was limited to playoff attendance.

I was at the snow bowl, and yes it was full. However, I also attended the texas bowl and alamo bowls when there were plenty of seats open.

Long flight from Oregon and Tech doesn't have a huge fan base/doesn't travel well.

Cotton Bowl would've loved to have Tech instead of Ohio St

I'm gonna need to see some tv ratings for this round before trying to validate interest is down. As others have said, it's hard to make last minute travel plans for a quarterfinal game… I do expect them to reevaluate and play more home games instead of bowls. OSU last played 25 days ago and that's a travesty.

Disney and the bowl committees are the enemy that needs to be destroyed. In addition to rules changes that will take an act of congress. Can't fix CFB until that happens.

1. 16 team playoff. First two rounds on campus. NY6 bowls trade off on the 3 semifinals and finals games. Every round is bumped up a week and byes are eliminated. (bowl committees will hate this and we give them no choice)

2. Fix scheduling and seeding: 9 conference games. 1 P4 non-conference game. 2 G5 games. Eliminate FCS games and just give them money…….at-large seeds are determined and ranked by computer based predictive rankings (Disney would hate not having that joke of a CFP rankings show)

3. Most of the other bowls need to go away. Schools, players and traveling fans don't want them. Only TV fans, Disney and bowl committees want them. (Disney owns half of them and would hate this, bowl committees would fight this kicking and screaming too)

4. Keep the spirit of the House Settlement. Make college football athletes a special class of students/athletes/employees and have them sign contracts. Allow one portal transfer per player. Player gets a 2nd transfer as a senior if they graduate or another one if their coach changes. (This would require an act of congress)

5. The P4 commissioners need to join together to negotiate TV deals. None of the conferences are getting what they deserve compared to what viewership costs for other sports. (Disney and all the other networks would hate this)

Playoff bowls are too $$ and time consuming for most fanbases to fill these stadiums.

Try this-

- Top 8 teams ranked by average between AP poll, Coaches poll, and Committee

- No more Conference championship games

- No auto bids

- Quarters and Semis on higher-ranked teams' campus

- National Championship game at neutral site (rotate between, Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Sugar, Peach, Orange)

- No playoff games on any NFL days

All other bowls to everyone outside the Top 8.

Also, split the non Power Conferences into a different subdivision, and let them have a playoff similar to FCS all on Campus. The remaining question will be where does the ACC fit in 4 years, after the good teams escape to the other P3

I think many are like me. Went to the CFP game in Kyle. Had plans but didn't make the cut for cotton bowl tickets, didn't apply for fiesta bowl, didn't make the cut for the NCG tickets in Miami.

I considered going to the Cotton Bowl as it's close abou the same travel time as College Station, wasn't going to spend the money it took to get to Arizona, would definitely go to the NCG.

Next year I will probably skip all post season games and just save my money to make the NCG should we make it.

I think Indiana to the Rose Bowl was a behind the scenes deal to keep B1G champ there. Rose Bowl is always angling to keep their game same as it has always been - to the detriment of every other bowl.

At my age I go for the "experience" not just the game itself. If the place and plans do excite me maybe i go and see some new place and see the Ags play

Otherwise i have a 75 inch TV that works just fine and can see multiple games in a given day

One day I will have a bucket list of games to go see in my older days but the way college football is going I dont think that will be the sport honestly

Firstly, this thread started because people don't want to travel to the bowl games anymore ……... The ticket prices are a scam. The travel is too expensive. The schools are opting out because they lose money when they don't sell enough tickets and paying for players/staff to travel to the game is a huge burden. The players don't want to play them. The atmosphere sucks compared to on campus. None of the venues outside of the Rose Bowl have any historical importance

The only people gaining from the bowls all these years are the broadcast networks and the owners of the bowls/committees. They've been taking advantage of the schools and players all these years

The schools and conferences get a small sliver of the profits for the games they actually sell enough of their ticket allotment. And the fans get to watch some football game on TV that doesn't matter

Im not advocating for all bowl games to go away. Just most of them

Yes. The problem with cutting out the G5 is the lawsuits.

I see it playing out as the ACC will be picked apart with maybe 10 teams going to the P3.

The leftover ACC + AAC would merge conferences.

Instead of a separate G5 level of football it would be easier to demote the weakest conferences to FCS. So, Mountain West, CUSA, MAC? And Sunbelt? to FCS

Keep the new PAC and new ACC/AAC in division 1
