Elko is a NJ guy, it has been noted by players and some gossip that not everyone on staff could handle his style, specifically Klein.

Jersey guys like Elko are going to build loyalty via the inner circle and promote staff who can handle his Bill Parcel style.

It has been highly debated how much Klein ruined the end of the season, but with his departure and several other staff members going with Klein, reflected a loyalty issue. In an era defined by constant change the Elko way cannot tolerate one hit wonders who leave before they have truly accomplished the goals.

You fix it by giving loyal staffers bigger titles and raises to stick with you.

This new day of college football is filled with uncertainty and more potential points of failure than ever before, so Coach Elko appears to be solving it with the old school, you be loyal to me and I will be loyal to you.

Is it also a Jersey thing to force feed kickers that can't get the ball 6' off the ground?

Blah blah blah

Elko is easily the best football coach we have had in a long time. Not Saying he's Saban but he has many similarities of Saban.

I think OP is talking out of his A$$ and not even sure the point he was trying to make. But easy to see Elko has us pointed in the right direction.

I have no doubt all his coaches loved that he wanted them rewarded more instead of the contract just rewarding himself.

So Klein is the head coach at his dream location.

And some want to spin there were issues between the two.

LOL

Never change TexAgs

I have no doubt Elko ripped Klein a new one from time to time. I guess you guys have never watched Saban coach and his actions towards his OCs when things don't go well.

I think Klein left for a head coaching job for the school he played and coached for. I believe Jordan Peterson left to be a defensive coordinator.I think the tight end coach left to coach will Klein. I think most of the others were quietly let go by Elko. Just my thoughts , don't know for sure.

I am serious. I don't think it gets anywhere close to a reason for him to leave, but Klein would never curse and probably (speculation) doesn't really appreciate that kind of language.

Wow what an innovative strategy that Elko's isn't that hasn't definitely been used for the last 20 years by coaches to try and retain staff by adding fancy titles??? So creative!!!!

Did someone assign Klein or did Elko hire him? If so, did he evaluate all of that against the Elso way in doing so?

Klein must hate coaching his players because those guys say things way worse than anything that comes out of Elko's mouth.

So, a guy with 17 years of continuous involvement in high level football is miffed by cursing? Do you suspect he's offended by dancing, too?

How is it "loyalty" to NOT want a guy who chose you over tons of other offers and has now gotten an opportunity at his dream school and alma mater to take the job?

If Elko wants assistant coaches who won't take their personal dream job, at a P4 school, but will stay with him, he's not asking for loyalty. He's asking for fealty.

Sometimes loyalty can be characterized as "a whole lot of yes men" who want to keep their jobs, suck up to the head coach, and don't rock the boat even when the rocking is warranted. We've seen a lot of college coaches who value loyalty over competence. Promoting "the same thing" from within isn't progress. It's stagnancy. It's not adaptation. It's gridlock. I'd much rather have the most competent coaches. But that's just me.

The Elko way so far has been closing the season 1-4 (2024) and 0-2 (2025) in games which have post season implications.

Yep, that's bad. Also, the vast majority of folks never expected this roster to compete for the SEC championship, and they did. I think it would be disingenuous for any of us to act as though this roster looked championship worthy, at the beginning of the season.

The Elko way has also been 8-4 and 11-1 in 2 years.

Enjoy being on the bloody rag side of the direction of the program. We haven't seen a level increase like this in 50 years but the internet gives plenty of room for bleeding

He is trying to build his coaching ranks where good coaches come so they can get their dream job. He said as much in an interview. He has to recruit good talented coaches just as much as players to fight at the front.

Yall are such beeches about this stuff sometimes.

While the season ended very bitter, overall the trajectory is positive. Yes, next year will be harder,, but one isn't going to win the NC waltzing through cupcakes anyway. Just ask Tech.

Either you are a badass team, or you aren't.

Winning in football is mostly a matter of experienced talent. The talent part is what it is.

But the experienced part is being blown up by the portal, reduced practice time, early NFL entry..etc.

This is why the last two years teams have looked sloppy so deep into the season where it was once game 2, perhaps game 3 before the slop generally was cleaned up across college football.

Maintaining as much as possible on the coaching side helps, same goes for scheme, terminology...etc.
