The Elko way so far has been closing the season 1-4 (2024) and 0-2 (2025) in games which have post season implications.

The Elko way has also been 8-4 and 11-1 in 2 years.

Enjoy being on the bloody rag side of the direction of the program. We haven't seen a level increase like this in 50 years but the internet gives plenty of room for bleeding

And plenty of room for perky little girls tossing glitter and rainbows in celebration of how grand things are. Lots of annoyance for everyone.

Does OP mistakenly believe that everyone in NJ operates and thinks like Tony Soprano?

Elko is a NJ guy, it has been noted by players and some gossip that not everyone on staff could handle his style, specifically Klein.

Jersey guys like Elko are going to build loyalty via the inner circle and promote staff who can handle his Bill Parcel style.

It has been highly debated how much Klein ruined the end of the season, but with his departure and several other staff members going with Klein, reflected a loyalty issue. In an era defined by constant change the Elko way cannot tolerate one hit wonders who leave before they have truly accomplished the goals.

You fix it by giving loyal staffers bigger titles and raises to stick with you.

This new day of college football is filled with uncertainty and more potential points of failure than ever before, so Coach Elko appears to be solving it with the old school, you be loyal to me and I will be loyal to you.

Prime off season thread. I hate this time of year.

Now analyze why coaches leave Saban.

It was mostly because he used bad language.

Have you seen our QB? jfc. Saban couldn't have won those games for us.

Kirby Smart stayed for years until he won several titles,
Sarc helped in 2016 as a consultant and 2019-2020 and won a title

It hard to explain loyalty and how it works in the Northeast to people in TX because of the wild cat oil man mind set. It's not anyone's fault, but as you can see by the responses Texas is incapable of grasping the The Godfather or Tony Soprano themes.

I don't know about all that rubbish OP, the way I see it is an OC got an offer of a lifetime to become a HC for the first time back at his alma matter. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the timing, he (Klein) did what was best for him. Most rational people would have taken the opportunity as he did. Nothing to do with loyalty. Elko's decision to keep him around is an experience or lesson learned for his next assistant coach that receives an offer elsewhere. It really is about how Elko deals with his staff as a fairly new head coach/ceo of the organization.

OP, now do a cross matrix of Princeton and overweight coaches' tendencies.

What does Princeton have to do with it?

My guess is Klein had a problem with Elko's penchant for cursing.

This is so ludicrous that I don't think you're being serious.

I am serious. I don't think it gets anywhere close to a reason for him to leave, but Klein would never curse and probably (speculation) doesn't really appreciate that kind of language.

Elko probably also kissed his wife before marrying her, and that would have offended Klein.

I love how critical you are and my guess is you have done nothing in life worth remembering as far as sport accomplishments.

Half of Elko losses are against teams that made the final four in only his first two years as head coach. Elko is a great coach.

Good grief............what a load bull excrement!

Typical northeast holier than thou attitude.

The two most dangerous domestic terrorists groups in the USA are the modern democrat party and the main stream media.

I think Klein left for a head coaching job for the school he played and coached for. I believe Jordan Peterson left to be a defensive coordinator.I think the tight end coach left to coach will Klein. I think most of the others were quietly let go by Elko. Just my thoughts , don't know for sure.

This is by far the most likely scenario. If you didn't know that Klein would bolt back to K-State the moment that job opened up, you were extremely naive. It turns out coaches like getting promotions, hence why Peterson left. The others weren't great. On the DL, there were too many run misfits and Elko knew he could convince E-Rob to come back.

if Peterson did well as DC there then he'll jump ship right back to us when Elko comes calling.

Yep, that's bad. Also, the vast majority of folks never expected this roster to compete for the SEC championship, and they did. I think it would be disingenuous for any of us to act as though this roster looked championship worthy, at the beginning of the season.
agree but if you look at it thru maroon glasses he has already had us a game away from the sec championship in his two years and in the playoff year two. If anyone said that after paying off Jimbo we would be in the playoff and a game away from Atlanta twice you would have paid the buyout willingly. The issue is Elko has raised his own bar and for that I say gig em!

You don't have ro use Maroon glasses. Just common sense and knowing the sport is all that is required.

Look at it the way.

Elko has 7 losses.

I'm going to ignore the Las Vegas bowl bc I just ignore games where both teams had multiple opt outs. It's a time for learning and players playing that had not played much but I don't waste that much thought on the outcome,

So in the other 6 losses, 3 of them are to teams that made the playoff semis. One of them making the final last year and another still playing this year. So three of the six losses were to great teams.

The other 3.

At South Carolina, at night and lost Moss in the 1st half, our best offensive player that year. South Carolina was also one of the first teams out of the playoff and playing great when we met up.

Texas this year, similar to South Carolina the year prior. We did not play well in the second half.

Auburn is really the only bad loss in Elko's 1st two years. And we still went to multiple OTs on the road.

Anyway, could go into further detail but can save that for another day.

Klein must hate coaching his players because those guys say things way worse than anything that comes out of Elko's mouth.

Perhaps Klein is coaching those kids by also being a positive influence on them. I'm seriously a Mike Elko Fan, however I do wish he'd cut back on the F word. Right or Wrong or Whatever, the fact of the matter is that some of those kids eyes are shifting away when he blast it out on "The Pulse". There are families of recruits who would and I'm sure do consider it a character issue. Someone give him an "F jar" for the off season, money goes to Cabo Trip!

Elko values his assistants hence making sure they get taken care of when he got the new contract.

Klein left for a HC job when momma called.

The others, IDK. But Elko has given me no reason to not trust his decisions.

Including the kicker decisions. Including keeping Klein. Including Wiggy/Reed in his 1st season.

And hell, I like going for it on 4th down and trick plays every now and then.

I do think we need a ST coach.
