Penn State has 33 players in the portal. 4 to Virginia Tech with Franklin.

On the flip side, they are bringing in SIXTEEN from Iowa State.

Ok State is UNT birth now with 6 offensive starters planned to go. They could be next years Indiana with a massive turnaround in a league with crappy opponents. They play Oregon and host the sand fleas. I think tech has used up their media pass this year won't get the benefit of the joke schedule next year.

Ive been busting Elko's balls every since Thanksgiving. With that said, he's proven to be a wizard with his portal moves starting with the 2024 season. I mean... Howell came from Bowling Green. Some of his other portal studs came from programs like NC State, and Purdue

I saw a post that over 30% of NCAA football players hit the portal... Totally insane

Yep. Campbell is trying to rebuild the culture at Penn State so it makes sense to bring in his players that already know what to expect from him and for those players to show the way.

Just saw that Penn State got 4 more Cyclones. Iowa State has 51 players in the portal.

They have 10 coming in from Washington State though

Did Elko bring any players or staff with him from Duke?

This is so true. It was like clockwork. SWC team beats up on tu consistently, DMN horn mafia gets into gear and digs up dirt, team ends up on probation, and finally, tu saying they're the only team not paying players in the SWC.

I love this era. Parity. Teams like IU having success. The people who are making coaches, recruiting services , reporters, and ESPN millions are finally getting part of the pie.

Matt Campbell is a great coach, and Penn State was very fortunate to hire him after firing James Franklin in the middle of his 12th season. Yes, Penn State started out a disappointing 3-3 (0-3 Big 10), but they were coming off of a CFP semifinal appearance and 3 consecutive 10+ in seasons. Franklin also won 11 games each in 2016, 2017, and 2019 for a total of six 10+ win seasons, including a Big 10 Championship in 2016. It's nearly impossible to replace a long tenured coach with that much success.

Campbell led Iowa State to 7 bowl appearance in 9 seasons, two Big 12 Championship Game appearances in 2020 and 2024, and their first ever 11-win season in school history in 2024. He will bring in players from Iowa State and other schools that he thinks will fit his style of play, which is built on discipline, complementary football, and maximizing efficiency rather than raw explosiveness.

Staff, yes with Cushing

Players, sort of, I believe Bourdon was a Duke commit and switched to A&M to follow Cushing and Elko.

But certainly nothing wholesale like Cignetti or Campbell or OSU.

He brought Cushing, Trooper Taylor, Dougherty, and Ish Aristide. And yes Robert Bourdon.

I'm not going to repeat the post, but I pointed out on here with data that Campbell is a DOWNGRADE over Franklin at PSU. Campbell is a bit like Leach on this forum: he did more with less at a school that hadn't traditionally won (or beat us at our worst) but that doesn't mean he will translate such success to a school with a history of winning 11-plus games in years they don't consider successful.

Campbell has NOT "won quite a bit" at ISU. His record is 75-55. That's way better than ISU historically but we've fired 3 coaches in the last 25 years with FAR better records. Even if you removed his 2 losing seasons (2016 and 2022), he'd still have been worse than the 3 coaches we've fired. Campbell gets the ISU excuse for his first 5 or so years; after that, it was at worst a decent program in the Big 12 and no longer, really, a place that was tough to win. At least not any more than Cincinnati or Louisville.

Campbell is, at best, fools gold. Why have you guys dogged tech for their recent success in the B12, which has been much better than Iowa State's at ISU's best, yet praise Campbell for the work he's done in the same damn conference? tech's historical record isn't THAT much better than ISU's.

I also believe Campbell is overrated, and I blame Josh Pate for this farce.

Yeah, because A&M has always been a Boy Scout of a program that NEVER EVER paid players. Guess your forgot about Jackie and RC both getting their pee pees slapped for recruiting violations.

I think he's saying we just did what everyone else did, but Horns had NCAA enforcement smack us down & force us to fire our best coach in his prime over some absolute bullsh..,
