This is how I see the 2-deep.

The first 2 positions are fairly clear:
Craver 5-9 / Bussey 5-10
ABR 6-0 / Norman 6-0

Third Position will be a battle:
Myles 6-2 / 5*
Gregory 6-3 / 4*
Warren 6-1 / 4*
Madden Williams 6-1 / 4*
Wilson 6-2 / 4*

Thoughts?

Craver/ABR is a pretty good combo. I think we need to figure out how to use Bussey's skill set better.

Maybe move craver yo z, and see how Norman does in the slot.

I know this is hypothetical but even if Coleman isn't added we will add another experienced wr through the portal

If Myles can come back completely healthy and back to 'normal' capabilities, he will surprise many as he was tracking to be top 3 starter this last season (well ahead of ABR due to size, speed and catching radius).

Gregory considered 5 star by several services and has been performing extremely well in practices for the HS bowl game he's participating (vs. top HS CB talent). Warren has had some flashes also per some sites.

I've stated before that we should let Coleman go if we don't get a fair price and focus on a couple other WRs (the GT WR and the OU WR, but don't think either we are interested or they are not interested in us...not sure).

We shall see.

This may not be a popular opinion, but Bussey's skillset that we've seen to date is pretty much running in a straight line. He's a decent kickoff return man, but otherwise he hasn't become what we hoped. I sometimes wonder if a move back to DB wouldn't suit him.

I'm honestly a bit surprised he hasn't hit the portal.

If quick change of direction is not his strong suit, then DB night not be a good fit either.

From the OP, is "Williams" Izaiah Williams? I thought I saw that he is in the portal. He's also not 6'-1" - listed as 5'-11".

Unless one of the guys that hasn't played steps up, we really need to add another WR.

Craver is really good, ABR is solid but no more than a WR3. IMO he benefitted from all the attention Craver and KC got this year and will struggle when defenses focus on him. Bussy is also a decent WR3 at this point.

If we don't game plan more for Bussey move him to secondary and k/p returns.

If Cam Coleman lands with us, he'll replace KC quite well.
Maybe not in special teams, but certainly on offense. And his size/length should be a plus too.

Other than Coleman, Eugene Wilson from Florida was high on my wish list. I'm sure Elko and staff have a few options at WR via the portal if Coleman choses elsewhere. I doubt the WR room is a finished product at this point.

He followed Klein to Kansas State I believe

I've posted this before but I think it bears repeating

My nephew, a legit athlete in his own right, played 7v7 with Myles and says, "he's the best football player I've ever seen!"

Nephew has gone to tons of high end camps and played against plenty of top talent, plus he hates the aggies so his opinion is not colored by maroon colored glasses.

I for one am excited to see him on the field.

I would like to see an experienced bigger WR, but other than that, I'm good with our current depth chart.

This, and Gregory looks really good. I could see him getting some playing time as a true fish and possibly a lot of playing time in the latter half of the season.

We are very secure at WR. While getting Coleman would be great, we absolutely do not need him. Our starting outside will almost certainly be Craver and ABR. Jerome Myles should be back from injury and likely will be WR3.

After that it's simply who will shine. Bussey has shown glimpses. Don't expect too much from the true freshman, but it will be nice to see what they can do.

Unless 1 of the taller guys is just better than Bussey I wouldn't be surprised if we keep ABR as our short X and started Bussey as our Z with Craver staying in the slot. ABR is short for an X, but he played it for us last season.

In today's football, X receivers are just guys that can win against whatever coverage they're up against at all 3 levels. Height hasnt really mattered in quite a while. Sure, guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Julio Jones exist, but by and large the majority of X receivers in the NFL are 6-1 and under.

Edit: I guess my point is that ABR being 6-0 isn't really all that short by today's standards. It's pretty typical

Well that's just not gonna fly with the average texags poster who thinks the sky is falling when we don't land every top transfer the day that the portal opens.

We aren't going Cam Coleman or bust for WR, plenty of time in the portal and plenty of time for players to hit the portal.

Time will tell, but Elko and co. will make sure we are good on wideouts

You can't rely on a RS Fr with two season ending knee injuries in three years. Bussey needs to be a running back. I like Norman's graceful athleticism, maybe he has some Josh Reynolds to him. All that's to say, the WR room presently relies extremely heavily on two slightly built speed receivers, and none of the TEs are proven.

As it stands right now, I have a lot of concern about the offensive personnel at every position.

Good replies. Thanks for the engagement.

Bussey, Norman, and the other 5 battling for the 3rd receiver spot makes me think we will have a solid starter there, but we shall see.

So we are scoring 12 fewer TDs and getting 1,400 fewer all purpose yards in 2026?
