Reduction of shock during impact
Less people concussed.....
To sneak in alcohol to mix with the Gatorade
The purpose is to make you look like a doofus while your brain rattles around.

I can't imagine those things actually work. They're probably more for the defense attorneys. "Oh you got CTE? Why are you suing us when you refused to put the marshmallow on your head?"
If you want people to quit using their heads, remove helmets entirely
If you don't want people driving recklessly, replace their airbags with a giant spike that deploys upon impact.

Yes. But an amazing helmet colliding against another amazing helmet is leading to tons of plays where you can literally see the guy concussed on the field. I agree you big time, trust me, but it does seem odd to have a giant pad over top of the helmet

If only we had a targeting rule that was very frustrating because of how often it was called initially instead of how it is now being completely forgotten
