There wasn't a quarterback in the portal that was a slam dunk upgrade over Marcel. I have issues with his play as well but I don't think standing pat was the wrong move. We will see.

That's patently false, some were excited, but nowhere close to what Lane has generated as evidenced by the new ticket sales and the support by the big guns. To a man EVERYONE is pumped about what Lane could do. A large portion of the fanbase hated BK from day one

The big guns came out because they were pissed that Brian Kelly didnt work out, that's why they stepped up to pay that buyout and write another blank check to go get another big time coach.

I think Lane will do good at LSU, I'm just saying it's not a sure thing and I remember people saying that Brian Kelly will obviously win a championship with LSU's resources if he could win like he did at ND

There was definitely a lot of excitement when Brian Kelly got hired, especially in LSU media. It's semantics to argue if it is the exact same or not.

My only point was that the excitement about BK leaving ND to come to LSU (how ever much you're willing to agree there was) did not amount to a championship and Lane is not guaranteed to win one either just because yall hired him

I think they were equally excited, but that is just my opinion and not my overall point.

Every LSU media person and fan that I talked to had the same talking points. Most wins by an active coach and took ND as far as he could and will easily win a championship now that he has the resources to do so

I know a can pull clips of Scone, Hunt, T Bob, guys from Tigerbait and plenty others saying these exact same things as if just hiring him was winning a national championship
