Based on the pre-season rankings at SEC Media Day, we were expected to have a harder schedule than tu. It just so happens that some of the teams we played fell short of expectations (South Carolina is a big one) while some on tu exceeded expectations.
In the SEC pre-season media poll the rankings were:
1. Texas
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. LSU
5. SC
6. Florida
7. Ole Miss
8. A&M
9. Tennessee
10. OU
11. Auburn
12. Mizzou
13. Vandy
14. Arkansas
15. Kentucky
16. Miss St.
From that we were supposed to play 1,4,5,6,11,12,14,16
Texas played 2,6,8,10,13,14,15,16
Our average opponent was then 8.6 and median 8.5. That is a very balanced schedule.
Texas has an average of 10.5 and median 11.5.
So, again the SEC tried to give tu the easier schedule. It just failed. Also, LSU was looking like a playoff team until a few minutes into the 2nd half. We beat them so bad they fired their coach. Also, all these teams if we sucked would have one less loss and one more win.
