And "they" are correct. 3 of our wins came against these teams.

Losing a lot doesn't mean you had a soft schedule

Yes but those teams Missou and Tennesse both still had a winning record. I'm just saying we feasted on those who feasted on the starving. In the food web of college football we may not have been alpha predators but we definatly werent the bottom feeder everyone is saying our schedule was.

Missouri would have won 10-11 and South Carolina would have won 8-9 in the Big 12.

And??

1 out of 14 years we get an easy SEC schedule. Texas has been in the SEC for 2 seasons with a laughable schedule in both years and not a peep about it.

We had an easier SEC schedule than usual. 8-5 (4-4 SEC) Missouri was the best SEC team we beat, and the other 6 SEC teams we beat finished 3-5 in SEC games or worse, including 7-6 (3-5 SEC) LSU. Florida, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arkansas went a combined 4-28 in SEC games. However, 4 of our 7 SEC wins against Mississippi State, Florida, LSU, and Missouri were by 17+ points each, including road wins over LSU and Missouri by a combined score of 87-41.

In hindsight the Ags had and easier schedule than expected, but there's a difference in setting up a schedule to be easy before the season and how the schedule shakes out at the end of the season.

Games @ND, @LSU, @Ark, and @Mizzou were not expected to be easy W's and 3 of them were much easier than expected.

Some teams have easy schedules created for them. Other teams just have it work out that way once in awhile.

Why so much hate? Simply lamenting the fact that I wish there had been a way to see how we would have matched up on the field against the sips the last two seasons… It would help put a lot of the guesswork on who was better/ tougher to bed!

This is going to be the norm in an era when we have 16-18+ team conferences that plays only 8-9 games.

Even if the SEC played 12 games, some team would avoid the top 2 teams, another would avoid 2 of the top 3, and somebody else would have to play all 4 of the top teams.

where the OP's post comes into play...

recall all the hype Alabama got back in October for "beating 4 straight ranked opponents" and so forth

however 2 of those 4 opponents were Missouri and Tennessee

the Tide's stretch of 4 wins was not as impressive as the pundits thought

You're literally nuts, 2024 sips got the easy schedule playing teams with hurt QBs 1/2 the time, This year their schedule was top end loaded. @OSU, OU, @Georgia, Vandy, A&M were all in the top 15 CFP rankings. How do you think we end up with their schedule. My guess is the same 9-3. We lost to them so that's 1. Do you really think we win @Georgia or @OSU? We didn't play any of the top 5 SEC teams. Now do I think they go 11-1 with our schedule? No. They lose @ND @Florida (that's in the books), and probably 1 more the way they played the 1st 1/2 of the season. When you play 5 of the top 15 and 3 of the top 7 that is not a laughable schedule.

Based on the pre-season rankings at SEC Media Day, we were expected to have a harder schedule than tu. It just so happens that some of the teams we played fell short of expectations (South Carolina is a big one) while some on tu exceeded expectations.

In the SEC pre-season media poll the rankings were:
1. Texas
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. LSU
5. SC
6. Florida
7. Ole Miss
8. A&M
9. Tennessee
10. OU
11. Auburn
12. Mizzou
13. Vandy
14. Arkansas
15. Kentucky
16. Miss St.

From that we were supposed to play 1,4,5,6,11,12,14,16
Texas played 2,6,8,10,13,14,15,16

Our average opponent was then 8.6 and median 8.5. That is a very balanced schedule.
Texas has an average of 10.5 and median 11.5.

So, again the SEC tried to give tu the easier schedule. It just failed. Also, LSU was looking like a playoff team until a few minutes into the 2nd half. We beat them so bad they fired their coach. Also, all these teams if we sucked would have one less loss and one more win.

What about the AP poll voters, we asked them and they ranked us 8th and the sips 12th.

We had a better record. Finished higher in the SEC standings. Made the playoffs. Finished ranked higher.

Only a mouth drooling dip**** would think Texas has a better season.

Won one more game and finished the season with a whimper, including a loss to biggest rival. sips lost early and finished strong. Teams went in opposite directions as season wore on… hence the preseason predictions for 2026. Maybe it's misplaced, but the optimism in Austin for next season seems far greater than what's going on in BCS.
It is what it is.
Teslag

We only won more game because we lost in the PLAYOFF. Jesus, our seasons weren't close out all, hence even the AP having us four spots ahead of them. The only people that think they had a season better than us are sips, which includes you.

And "as the season wore on" Texas got blown out by Georgia and had to scrape by in OT against two bottom feeders. And you probably value in their completely meaningless bowl game.

Lots and lots and lots of peeps about it on texags, all while ignoring Elko's baby soft schedule that didnt include UGA, Ole Miss, or Bama.

But he did manage a bunch of programs that fired their coaching staff, and a ranked team that was forced to use a 3rd string QB
