If you are old enough, you may actually remember when Martellus Bennett roamed the campus and played for the Aggies, with a larger than life personality, and who loved interviews…. After his professional playing years ended, he apparently created a black superhero, and now voices him on the Disney Channel….

I had heard of the black superhero, Captain Durag, but had no idea that he had an Aggie connection, which I just read about on Not the Bee. Martellus & Disney's Captain Durag controversy/ backlash. Lots of other articles, too.

Apparently not everyone loves the concept…. Anyone have insight?

I'm just thinking it would seem a good fit for Martellus after football…

So Marty B is more than just the voice of the character - he is actually the creator of the show ("Hey AJ"). It's based on some children's books he wrote with the same name, which I think is pretty cool and totally in his lane.

I've actually watched the show with my kids and it's not that bad - in fact, much better than a lot of the junk you'll see on TV or YouTube these days.

My only criticism of this is that's it always bothered me that "Durag" is spelled like that and not "Doorag".

Beyond that, love to see creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in anyone but especially fellow Ags.

That's Door Ag. It should be Duerag or Dewrag

"Dewrag" would work well.

Hey AJ books are fun. My kids enjoyed them when they were little. Didn't realize he'd made a show, gonna have to check it out.
