I'm sure the big thinkers over at those ratings sites can fix those numbers. Can't be having us end up with a top class when there's blue bloods out there still paying top dollar.

You shouldn't at all….its been apparent since day one the Elko isn't just chasing stars the way Fisher did.

How many transfer out before making any impact
how many stick around actually graduate
I know recruiting is important but it's hard to get excited about it like in the past as the game has changed so much with the money and transfer options.

I kid.
Either way, besides Denver Harris, there weren't many mis-evals on the defensive side of the ball. Biggest problem with the '22 class was everybody transferred away.

That's your choice. You can't win without recruiting well so I still get excited. Maybe not to the same level as before but a strong class indicates one of two things. We are outpaying everyone or we are relevant.

The biggest takeaway from these rankings is it's a sign of where your program is trending. Half of the dudes don't pan out but the other half usually do. Stack classes like this consistently along with working the portal like we've been doing and eventually it will all come together.
I'd much rather have the #1 class in Elko's hands than the last guy.
And I think more will sign than you think now that NIL deals are above the table.
But I totally get where you're coming from as before this past 11 win season I didn't see the point. For 15 years now our recruiting was always better than the on-field product. But I think any time a coach shows he can get over the hump like Elko did, that inspires optimism.
In 2022, Bama and Georgia had been recruiting top 1 or 2 classes EVERY year for a decade. To think we could topple that level of talent with ONE class was delusional..But in 2022 I was DEFINITELY delusional..
For this '27 class, really need to close the deal on J Snell (safety from Waxahachie). The dude is real and will be a starter soon in his college career.

In this day and age with NIL allocations and contracts, the answer is... almost all of them.
The majority of decommitments these days are tied to coaching changes.
It's probably debatable whether 247 or the Consensus (247, Rivals and ESPN) is the more accurate ranking. The Consenses has only 6 ranked in the top 100 with Scott and Johnson excluded, but has 3, 5 stars, Dorsey, Henry and Snell with Forstall being ranked a high 4-star. Frampton is a 4-star in the Consensus, 3 star in 247.

So are we front runners for OT Mathews and CB Merideth? Would be huge, both are in the top 5 overall in country.

At that point, EVERY number one recruiting class in the modern recruiting era won at least one national championship during the four-year period that that class was at its given school.
Guess which class was the first number one class never to do it? You'll probably never believe it...
It's really important to keep repeating that over and over. Because that one event is the only true indicator of future performance, right?
