Just an elite athlete but not a very good football player

Elite off the edge but can't do anything else and isn't big enough to be an every down DE

Feels like we broke him in 2023 when we just ran right at him with Achane and Achane went for 200+. Was never as good after we laid out the blueprint for beating him

Uh... i hate to break it to you but ALL players drafted in the NFL are very good football players. NFL teams don't play around with any of the picks. Some players are better than others and there are only a few vacancies on each team. Maybe Perkins or York or Scooby arent good players to you, but im sure they'll knock you on your ass and send you to the hospital after a few practices with them.

Agreed, and all three are considered undersized /tweeners. Scooby is closest to NFL LB size but still a little small. York is too short and Perkins at 222 too light. York's mind is his best feature and if you could put it in a 6-3 240lb frame he is a 2-3 round pick. Scooby gets dinged up and has a little injury history but should make a camp and probably a practice squad. Perkins went to Atlanta but will be PS as well.

Perkins is the opposite of York.

Combine both of their strengths and you're looking at a top 5 draft pick.

Agree with those stating Perkins was an athlete but not really a football player. Specifically he was not a LB. No instincts, avoided taking on blockers at the point of attack. Just wanted to use his speed to make plays. I watched him play a lot of HS ball. It was even very clear at that time. Pointed it out on TexAgs and of course everyone lost their ***** Don't you dear ever talk bad about an A&M recruit.

It was interesting watching the LSU fan base slowly figuring this out the past 3 years. They made every excuse they could but finally accepted that he was average last season.

Ultimately , he was just another bad evaluation by Jimbo because there is more to being a great football player than measurables. He was just another in that class that had character issues highlighted by the way he decommitted.

I mean, the decommit sucked, but he was young when that all went down. Never enjoy seeing a guy falter or fail to meet their dream.

He also lacks hustle. You watch him every play and he loafs every chance he gets if the ball doesn't go directly at him

Everyone loves to rave about his freshman campaign. In reality, he dominated a game vs. Arkansas's backup QB. He got 4 sacks in that game. Half of his total 7.5 sacks. Just a total one-game wonder.

He wasn't good in his second season, he got hurt his third year, and he wasn't good his final season.

I don't believe that's true. He was one of the best defenders in the SEC his freshman year and somehow got worse every year he wasn't injured.

I never wish anyone ill will.

However, when you play with fire and drag your sack over the Agz when you're announcing your commitment, I don't feel bad for you when your NFL stock value drops like GE Aerospace.

I understand people want to have fun, and sometimes "poke the bear," but when you do be ready to get the reverb later in life if things go awry.

I don't think it was a development thing. He's just not a linebacker as I noted previously. We actually did get a player very similar to him pretty close at the same time. Martell Harris. Since I was from that area I watched him play a lot of HS football just like I noted about Perkins. They were both very similar. Very athletic, no instinct what so ever. I stated the same on him as well and I'm pretty sure even got scolded by a moderator.

Well, we all saw that Harris did not do anything of significance at A&M.

Game film don't lie and certain positions such as LB you need to show some instincts and intellect.
