Seems like a good move for them honestly. I'm assuming he'll be something like a DL coach and a good recruiter. Plus he won a Championship there which fans and recruits will like.

For all of the speculation behind the scenes that he was fired for hitting on boosters wives and being a general scum bag, then for him to be hired at the first opportunity... Not sure if this speaks to the win at all cost culture, or the suspect reporting coming out to justify them letting him go in the first place. College football is mens soap opera I swear. At least Bobby P had to go on a 11 year apology tour before he made it back to Arkansas.

Looks like he will be a "special assistant" to the coaching staff. I wonder what exactly that means? Just putting his name on the wall to see how much backlash there is and have an easy plug at DC if the current one does not work out?

This article probably illustrates why that title is used since the restriction on on-field instruction "countable coaches" was changed. The essence is there is still a limit of 11 who can recruit off-campus.

I am not surprised that Lane Kiffin hired Ed Orgeron to his LSU coaching staff because they have had a long history of being on the same staff: Kiffin and Orgeron served on Pete Carroll's staff at USC from 2001 to 2004, and Oregeron served under associate head coach, recruiting coordinator, and defensive line coach under Kiffin at Tennessee in 2009 and then followed Kiffin to USC in 2010. After USC fired Lane Kiffin on 9/29/2013, Ed Orgeron took over as the interim head coach. This means that they served 8 full seasons on the same staff across USC (2001-2004 and 2010 through the first 5 games of 2013) and one year in Tennessee (2009).

Orgeron was the coach (Ole Miss at the time) that called to lure Tulane's players to Oxford in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. New Orleans was still under water and Ed was trying to poach their players.....

Even after kicking the Tulane football program while it was down, he was still a common fixture on the Tulane sidelines the last couple of years.

I've never met the man, but he must be one charming s.o.b. to keep falling in s!@# and come out smelling like roses....

I swear, every time I see him, he looks more and more like a football.

Art Briles never did anything close to Coach O but it speaks volumes about Lane Kiffin.
LSU and Lane Kiffin are bad for the SEC and at some point the boys down south are going to answer for it.
